I'm watching a documentary on Amazon Prime called Champs. It focuses on the careers of Holyfield, Hopkins and Tyson but also has a lot of social commentary about the system in the US. Well worth a watch.
Always up for a good boxing documentary so I'll give this a go. I quite liked the oldie on Netflix about the abandonment of the amateur scene in the US, featuring Cam F Awesome. No wonder the US hopes rest on Wilder! I joined a US boxing forum to WUM some of the more radical fans... Seeing as the Mackem lunatics have given up glory supporting
Maravila is a good 1 about Sergio Martinez, I watched that on Netflix a while back, not sure if it's still there
Wilder is only 1kg more than Haye. Big jump to the likes of Fury, Joshua, Parker. I think his best chance is Wilder. Similar stamp weight and height, both have big punch’s. Wilder was on his way from Ortiz before the ridiculous break given by the ref to save the Joshua fight.
Wilders 4 inches taller than him. Wilder has freakish power, can you see Bellew keeping him off him for 12 rounds? No chance. And Ortiz is a solid heavyweight
David Haye looked finished first time out against Bellew and he looked even worse this time. Nobody in their right mind would pay-per-view to watch another fight involving the shot and washed-up David Haye. Shame, because he's been good value over the years. Time to go David, and thanks
Don’t get me wrong, Wilder would be a massive favourite. Out of the options though I reckon it’s his best chance. Height is ok but weight and height seems to be a problem for smaller heavyweights. I think Bellew has done amazing for someone of his ability. It’s pointless putting him in the Ward fight. He’d just chase shadows for 12 rounds. At least with Wilder he knows he can knock him out and he’d have a punchers chance as Wilder wouldn’t make use of his height as his jab isn’t anything special. As for Ortiz, he’s a very good heavyweight for me. We will never know but if that ref hadn’t given Wilder an impromptu break I reckon Ortiz was cleaning him out.
Agree on Wilder. I think that's his best option. Although he can bang he's pretty crap technically if you ask me. Bellew might be able to out box him. It would be a totally different kettle of fish to fighting an over the hill Haye tho.
If you look at Bellew record it’s not a who’s who of boxing greats. There is every likelihood Wilder would do what Stevenson did and bomb him out. I just think the rest are too much for him. Regardless he deserves respect of dragging everything out of his career. Mentioning Fury is crazy unless Fury is goosed career wise after letting himself go. Maybe that’s his angle, catch him early catch him rusty and not battle hardened?
