I agree you have to be consistent. It wasnt the same ref though and the FA decided it wasnt a punishable offense. We didnt appeal McGregors sending off so we didnt allow the FA to be consistent.
The reason we didn;t appeal is because it was obvious the FA would not rescind the red, and would give McGregor a bigger ban. It doesn't matter if it's a different ref, all decisions must be met the same.
I would rather we stop giving dumb reds than give more just because it happens to others. Id also like to see the guy he kicked in that video get something for being a terrible actor.
The lack of consistency is shocking. There's been 4 or 5 incidents in the last few weeks like this: McGregor on O'Keefe, Remy/Johnson, Carroll on Flores, Toure on Van Wolfswinkel, Bellamy on De Guzman. Most of them involved a very soft but deliberate contact which could be construed as violent by a fussy ref and the 'victim' rolling around pretending to be hurt. All quite similar yet there've been various different outcomes. I can understand why refs might see it differently in real-time but the FA are watching video replays and some of these incidents are extremely similar; in particular the Carroll/Flores one and the Toure/Van Wolfswinkel one (both of which, as I understand it, the FA looked into in retrospect). How can one of them serve a 3-game ban and not the other? Those two were exactly the same in every way. I just can't see how they can make this ruling without explanation. This is something that pisses me off about the FA, they just seem to answer to no one and do what they want without explanation. Out of interest does anyone know if the FA have elections or anything for key roles or do they just award themselves these top jobs to run our game? Do they have any responsibility to answer to anyone?
They have democratic elections to each of their positions, its just only one chosen person is allowed to stand for the election......
