Awesome result! We've shown there's nobody we can't compete with in this group now. This must be our time.

 

Well well, we got a point. That's really kept us in contention. Still 3 points clear of Belgium after 4 matches, and arguably the hardest match out of the way.

As long as we avoid any slip ups against Israel, Cyprus and Andorra - we should at least get 2nd. At this rate though we must be in with a shout of winning the group. Although - Israel may prove more difficult than anyone expects - let's see how they do against Bosnia tonight.

Israel are leading Bosnia 2 nil ! and Bosnia have just had a player sent off !

That will put them top of the group with 3 wins from 3. eek!

 

Our next two games away to Israel and then home to Belgium will probably decide things.

 

I ain't worried about Israel tbh. With a full squad I see us pickingup at least 4 poibts against them.

 

Israel are certainly looking good. I don't agree that Israel away and Belgium home will solve the group though. Israel still have to play Belgium home and away and Bosnia away. There are many more games that Israel can drop points, even if we lose to them away. I think it's going to be a close group between Belgium, Israel and us, with Bosnia and Cyprus not too far behind. Cyprus are a bit of a surprise and are making it a very even group.

 

I doubt we'll win the group but I hope we'll finish 2nd at least. Betting has us most likely to finish 3rd. Away to Israel will be tough, as will home to Israel and Belgium. Looking good at the moment though.

 

Don't forget that Israel and Belgium have a game in hand (against each other).

 

Credit when credit is due the lads put up a spirited performance and we had a full squad for once. We have been in this position before and have blown it because we cant get our top players every game. 3rd place is the more likely position we will achieve and that is good for us but wont be enough to go through...

 

Third place will take us to a two-leg playoff against another third place team (unless we're the best third place team, in which case we'd go through automatically). So, even if we finish third, we're likely to have 180 minutes against a decent, but not great, team in order to qualify. Third place, with our squad, could well be good enough to go through.

 

I'd like to think that we could win the group, with the key players and full squad available - Bale / Ramsey / Allen - I think this is possible. A good result against Belgium away.
