I'm sure it is lovely, but it has to be one of the most anonymous countries in the world. It's big world claim to fame is being the site of the battle of Waterloo.
The scary thing is the USA is a sleeping giant in football. Say for example they got to the semi's or even luckier still the final. A whole new generation starts playing football before you know it, it's their number 1 sport.
Shows what I know That's the problem for Belgium...place names never leap to mind. All I know is Brussels and Waterloo.
Such is my devotion to illegally streaming games that this is the first time during the World Cup that I remembered that CBC streams all of them for free, in much better quality and far fewer hiccups.
Yeah, I know what you mean. We are generally the least deserving of winning any athletic competition. Even the national pride is somewhat fake, it's mostly an excuse for a party. There are countries where even if they win a Bronze in some obscure event that no one knows anything about, it's still a source of tremendous national pride. We expect to win, unless we don't care, and then that's a nice excuse. For us, if we win we get to be all "ASA is awesome!!" If we lose, it's "Oh well, don't care about soccer that much anyway." Having said that, what can you really say to a country that cares way too much about a sport that they suck really bad at? And what can we do if we're still somewhat decent without really caring? I'm giving ASA my usual lukewarm support. That seems fair.
It's in Europe of course. Next to that other European country.... Switzerburg or Austranavia or something like that?
