http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...er-Belgian-millionaire-Roland-Duchatelet.html A done deal according to the Daily Mail. Would mean we would have some funds for January at least. Just a shame it the Daily Mail reporting it...
Interesting news, but I'll reserve judgement until we learn a little more about their plans for their club.
Just seen it ...hum.... Spose if true it's gotta be good as the other lot don't wanna bankroll us anymore which means if they pulled the plug...disaster
It has been reported on Belgian TV and other media outlets so must be true. I suppose all the paper work needs to be completed. Charlton are refusing to comment at the moment.
As I said when the Yanks pulled out, if the current owners have decided to pull out then it is best for them to accept a lower offer otherwise their losses will just keep rising.... nobody forced them to invest in Charlton so if their plans to make money from us have failed then thanks for the last 3 years and goodbye....... they could have been better owners BUT then again, they could have been far worse... Mr Tan anybody?
Cue jokes about chocolate, beer, mussels and no longer having a mannequin to pis in.............sounds like good news. Any progress at the moment is good news.
After the Yanks thing, I'll believe it when it's signed. Damn, the hope is swelling in my chest again. I'm worse than children with Father Christmas!!
The obvious problem is this, what about the conflict of interest when we play Standard Liege in the "Champions League"?
He gave Standard 2.5m to spend in the summer. Not exactly a big Budget, but I suppose bigger than our present one. Why could'nt Slater and Jimmy have accepted this price from the Americans? Beggone you cheapo spirits!
Agreed. Underwhelmed is my initial reaction. The Belgian has bought us for a staggering £14m....we were getting that for one player four years ago ! How much for new players in January ? What are the long term plans for the Valley ?
Hmm, with minimal investment in the playing squad I wonder if it will be a situation to Watford where we receive a few liege players on loan? Anything that secures the future had to be a forward step. But MS and TJ leave with my thanks. Also did a lot of good whilst they were here and if the move goes through then we all know its just a matter of it being the right time!
"His later actions prompted demonstrations, riots and pitch invasions from supporters, for his policy of selling the club's top assets in order to ensure that the club remained financially stable." http://www.ultras-tifo.net/news/1758-standard-liege-fans-protest-27062013.html
I actually look like Tintin. Although I sit in the Lower West so I'm a little less animated. Totally indifferent to this news.
First thoughts are we have another Gliksten, Murray on our hands which leaves me underwhelmed, but taking FFP into account sounds like he could meet realistic investment into the team? Would be nice to hear a real plan, one that makes sense, is believable, and gets the ambitious fans excited. Here's hoping for some flaming positives for a change!
I was gobsmacked by Slater's comment a few weeks back that the 5 year plan was still in effect when it blatantly wasn't!
Precisely, I recently asked on here, if somebody could explain it, or offer a link... No surprise, nobody did! Also not surprised that some fans are already hoping Murray stays on with new owner... How did this this news slip by those ITK..?
You put Gliksten and Murray in the same category? Really? Why? Why did you put this fella in the same category? Who are the ambitious fans? Are they hoping for more than the rest of us? Why do you think any business will feel the need to share their plan with us? I'll be grateful if someone steadies the ship, just as I'm grateful that the current lot put some money in when we were at our lowest ebb but will reserve judgement on the rumour until it is confirmed other than by the Mail, and on any new owner until they've stuck with us for a few seasons and delivered rather than outlined a plan. Fingers crossed!
