That's what is weird. Unless ferrari customers didn't have all the cheat devices? It sort of brings into question Ferrari's chassis and was it being masked by the pu for a few years?
Ferrari must be delighted that there's going to be no fans at Monza. Can't see them in the top 10 there either. Odd given they've won in Spa the previous 2 years, what a change!
Felt terrible for Gasly today. Strategy was working out brilliantly, and he was driving very well, only for a very badly timed safety car (for him) to limit his final position. I'd certainly be questioning if I'd made the right decision in Red Bull's shoes now.
I'm not sure about that. Both of them came into a team that had an established driver who had worked to get the car to his liking and style. Gasly didn't have long enough to get the car more to his liking or adjust his style to the car. Albon has now had 12 months but this weekend was the first time I had heard Red Bull mention that they were adjusting things to suit Albon. F1 is brutal but I'm not sure Red Bull are supporting their no 2 driver enough. I think to win the constructors let alone the drivers a team needs to nurture both drivers, they can't ignore the 2nd driver it just doesn't work. A team needs 2 cars to force compromises in their opponents strat decisions. I though Albon did better this weekend, his quali was better and his race was reasonable, but Red Bull seem to split strat to either test tyres to help Max or just to try something different. Horner even said during the race that 'do the same get the same' with ref to Albon. So they are trying alternative strats out on Albon and wondering why they get different result to Max. I hope Albon keeps improving and at least becomes a good no 2 for Max. It might even give merc problems....
My judgement is more along the lines of having two top line drivers in the car. Max clearly is that A-grade. Gasly and Albon, C+ to B. I’d say Bottas is a B, for reference. They could do with nicking someone like George Russell for that other spot. Sadly the better F2 guys (though I really only rate Shwartzmann of those coming through) are tied up with Ferrari or Renault. The main RBR prospect is Tsunoda who is...again, like Gasly, decent, but not top drawer.
Sadly Red Bull are focused on one driver only. The other, only a spare part with a spare car. I believe that is Marko's influence, who was clearly in love at first sight with Verstappen, thankfully Ricciardo saw this straight away. Lets see what happens. Albon is good, he can overtake. He just needs a car that suits him. Redbull burn too many drivers. I don't like the Redbull team for this reason.
Undoubtedly Verstappen is very good, one of the best 3 current drivers on the grid (minimum). I don't think a team mate is ever going to match him, however, his team mates do seem to be afterthoughts. Red Bull are and have for some time been a 1 driver team, perhaps this is why they've been the nearly guys for a while. They're effectively ignoring 50% of their drivers input. What was Albons strategy on Sunday? Hope for another safety car, get in Mercedes way maybe, maybe help Verstappen win?
Without wanting to light up a highly charged debate, one of the things I’ve realised over the weekend is that Lewis Hamilton’s social media paid tribute to Chadwick Boseman and the BLM movement in general, but not a single thought or mention of Antoine Hubert on the anniversary of his passing in that tragic accident last year. That’s really disappointed me that has. This is where I think he has some real maturing to do. It’s commendable that he is fighting for what he believes in, but if you’re going to help people understand that Black Lives Matter is an equality movement, one would think that he could have afforded the same respect to Antoine via social media that he did Chadwick. Forgive me if I’ve missed any posts of his, but i can’t see anything at this moment in time.
The good news is that Pirelli have announced that they'll be going with the balloon tyre pressures in Monza so Mercedes may not win. 26psi in the fronts, compared to 23.5psi last year (was 27psi at Silverstone mk2).
lol, fair play, but that's exactly what he changed to become WDC, he grew a a pair and stopped rolling over. please log in to view this image
What triggered that? That he challenged Lewis more than the others? www.racefans.net/2016/11/28/hamiltons-unreliability-stop-winning-title/
