Here's my take on the game.

Charlton allowed City to play through their midfield and if City had had a decent striker who could keep onside and also put away simple one on ones, then we would have been out of sight by half time, poor refereeing decision aside.

Better teams will take advantage of such poor defending by Morrison especially, and Malone.

What was Pilkington's remit? He was all over the place, not sure what he brings to the team in fact. City need Noone to start, and then bring on Ameobi at half time for Mason or Jones, depending who is playing worse.

Jones is a concern. He is back to the standard he was when he was floundering with us in the Pl, and after his good start last time. He spends most of his time in midfield. His only contribution was to kick one off our line.

Whittingham. Why does he still play so deep? he needs to be up the pitch. He should be having at least 3 shots on goal; from 20-25 yards but he is so far off the opposition area.

Slade cannot get carried away with that narrow win. Charlton were poor. City just got over the line, and had they not won, it would have been a terrible result.

City have hot shots Boro, unbeaten Brighton, Ipswich, Burnley, on fire Reading & Derby in next 10 games plus difficult away matches at PNE and Leeds (where eventually they will stop our jinx over them) plus a local derby when Bristol will score, as City do not do clean sheets, and we can just hope their defence is as bad as it has been to now.

We will know where we are after that lot. I suspect in the bottom half given they will just not be able to cope with bigger, more athletic and quicker teams who know how to put away more chances than not.
