Off Topic Bees

Yeah I had the same in my guttering 2 summers running. I panicked a little after having all the neighbours 'helpfully' knocking on my door to let me know. But after some research and seeing how all advice is to leave them, I did just that and they left me alone, buggering off late summer both years. They haven't come back this year.

Please don't be tempted to hurt them, bees are great, really effin important and generally have a **** time of it. You'll feel a warm glow if you just let them get on with living.

Basically, let them bee.

Kill them all. They **** everywhere uncontrollably and you try getting the ****ing stuff off your car without marring the paintwork.

**** at work sneaked three beehives behind his unit and they left the cars in a blanket of bee ****. Just set fire to the bastards.

The odd hornets' nests around here. Not many. Stay away, well away. They will pass you by unless you put them in a stress situation (i.e. approaching their nest).

Did you see the scare stories about those super giant eurofag wasps in the papers the other day?

It's true about them though, had a few last year, enormous evil bastards that go out of their way to chase you around. I just assumed they were pissed up hornets until I saw they were common in my constituency.

Seem to have a swarm of bees in my guttering , there is always about 50 of them buzzing around the corner... I have been advised by a pest expert they are wood bees , and are harmless and are best left until they decide to clear off in the summer.... Anybody else had a similar problem ? And can confirm that will happen , I'm concerned he's just a lazy ****er who can't be arsed to come and one day I'm going to leave the house and be swarmed by killer bees ( maybe I should stop watching those films on sci-fi )
We get them occasionally the same
Couple of years on the trot but nothing yet this year (they must have moved to yours)
They're no problem at all, ours were in the eaves, but they didn't even bother going into the loft
Just leave them and they'll just move on later in Summer
One year we saw what I assume was their queen arrive...it was like a flying mouse, ****ing huge

By the way I found a dying bee t'other day and tried to revive it with sugar water...it worked and it flew off 5 mins later.

Bees are cool

Whilst I agree that wasps are utter bastards, I mean, they can sting you for no reason, and carry on stinging you if they want, they get some bad press.

They're not completely pointless as is often claimed.

They eat aphids.

Which you can get rid off with spray.

Wait, so yeah, they are utterly pointless vindictive ****s.

Ive got a bees nest just above my porch. Second year on the trot.

There'll be Tree Bumblebees. Fairly new to the UK after arriving from the continent about 15 years ago.

I know quite a few people who've recently found a nest in gardens, eaves etc. so I think they're starting to be a bit of an issue.

They don't swarm - the number of bees you see are actually male bees 'dancing around' waiting for Queens coming out of the nest. At this point the nest will only have 4-6 weeks left of its cycle.

Word of warning though, they don't like noise and vibration. It's advised not to use lawnmowers , strimmers etc too close to them.

Because they're fairly new to these shores bee experts are not sure what the long term outcome will be on native bees eg if they'll exist side by side or if they'll compete with each other.

I've read all about this on Google in the last few days !!

If you think wasps are utterly pointless vindictive ****s, what about Ferkin mosquitos, which we get loads of. What use are they, apart from inflicting misery on me in a summer. They give my mrs a very bad reaction also. One bite from the buggers and she can't stop whining for hours. (Actually thinking about it, she must get bitten about 5 times a day, if the whining is anything to go by)
