As I spend money freely it's been difficult to narrow it down to where I got it. But I seem to remember getting three 2 quid coins all at once in some change in a boozer.
That means your pint was likely to have cost less than £4 so I can narrow it down to not being anywhere in bloody London! (I’m still here so have checked other boozers as part of my research)

Actually as disparaging as I sometimes am about Sunderland I retain many happy memories of the 4 years I lived there. Especially the pubs.

The Vaux Brewery had a excellent Brewery Tap. Always full of coppers as it was opposite the Police Station.

When my daughters did gymnastics every month we would stay in Whitburn as there as a training centre there. I seem to remember going to a pub that was stuck a bit out in the sea in Sunderland which at the time wasn't bad.

The first time we went to Whitburn, I left my car over night in the car park, as we slept in the gym over night, only to find the radio gone the next morning. Bastard's, it was a new car, bloody glass everywhere.

When I lived there I was driving a clapped out Morris Marina. It was less hassle to just leave it unlocked.

The pub was probably the Marsden Grotto. Built into the cliff. Part cave, part veranda. Has a lift down to it or climb a zigzagging staircase down to the beach.

Just abit O/T has anyone else got scammed by a dodgy 2 quid coin?

It's a Mexican 10 peso coin. Looks the same but a bit thinner. I got one the other day and didn't realise and used it again and got pulled up in a shop. The bloke said there's been a few going round.

So all that talk on here about the coins and notes constantly being changed to avoid fraud, and then the UK goes and make a 2 quid coin that looks very much like one that's worth 40p.

Oh and the new 1 pound coin that was the subject of much debate on here looks very much like a 1 Euro coin, but at the moment they are almost worth the same anyway.

£2.15p for most real ales in Wetherspoons .

That's about what I have to pay for a 330ml bottle to drink at home. one the government off licences can sell full strength beer. 24kr below is about 2.15.

I just bought 8 beers and a 750ml bottle of whisky for 38 quid. no supermarket specials here.....

I think I must have been in Denmark last at £5.50 for a Westmalle trippel

When I'm staying in London for business I usually stay in Mayfair, and as we know that's generally a pretty expensive area. However there are a smattering of decent Green King pubs around Mayfair and you can get a good pint of bitter for 4.80. Decent selection of lagers and ciders as well. Plus they change out what they're serving regularly so there's always something good on tap. That is pretty good imho for the area and London in general.
