Me n Lady Rheinhold arrive together. i will be waering my Salmon pink Chino's Striped shirt-3 buttons open and a pale blue sweater wrapped around my shoulders. It is a Gin Festival after all not the beerdy weirdy riff raff down the road.
I'll be there at 1759 hours! I don't know what it'll be like because it wasn't at a Fruit last year, but I'm going early to get sat down
I was going to Minerva Never been in Fruit. I had an idea it was in a marquee outside of Minerva. It wont run out of Gin will it? I'm been plagued wi questions from the mrs.
It was in a marquee outside Minerva last year. I didn't realise it was in Fruit when I booked it either I really like Fruit, but then I'm a ruffian and I've tended to go to gigs there. Not sure what the ambiance will be like for gin I'd be amazed if they run out of gin tomorrow, as its on all weekend You normally get a book about the gins, but who knows
Leave me some recomendations for real ale Dennis. Im going on Saturday early afternoon. Golden ales that is Dennis. Leave the Gin n tonic to tarts like Chazz he'll be knitting after he's sunk 3 or 4
I'm struggling on here Father in Law who is normally a steady drinker is completely on one! Just asked me for an orgasmic...stunned silence and a thousand yard stare until I realised it was a drink! I will try and report on drinks when I can think again. But if you have one go for the Sublime Chaos from the Anarchy Brewery !!!!
There's some ace names for ales. Trouble is, nobody believes you when you ask them to get you one when they're at the bar. http://www.buzzfeed.com/lbailey211/18-best-names-for-beer-anyone-has-come-up-with-e9sd#.hnom6KMm7 Hoptimus Prime Seriously Bad Elf Arrogant Bastard Ale Faceplant Panty Peeler Ginger Tosser
brief real ale festival review 1. Holy Trinity is a fantastically beautiful building, with some great memorials. Have a look at the seafarers corner with the trawler memorials. I also love the tattered old flags 2. I don't have a thick head...although I'm no amateur. Water before bed though! 3. Amazing choice and I thought the tasting notes in the programme were better this year 4. Bars are in alphabetical order (by brewery) so choose your weapon out of the book, note the brewery and go to that area of the bar. The staff are great though and if you're buying more than one they'll do the walking for you South side is hand pull, north side is gravity from casks 5. Very quick service 6. Toilets were not good for the ladies apparently, but sssh...Dennis knows where the hidden ones are. If you imagine looking down on the church as a cross then walk up the right hand side and turn right down the cross part (where arms would be nailed) and the toilets are behind a door on your right. They're not marked (in fact it's possible they're marked as private) Mrs Tash appreciated this, and others were using it too 7. Entrance is one the end of the left had cross piece (for arm nailing) so go down North Church Side to avoid the excessive exercise I had walking round! 8. Food. I was disappointed that the hot pork pies and mushy peas option wasn't there, but there is plenty (pies, hot wraps, ice cream & candy floss!!!) 9. The important bit, beer. You get a half pint glass (£1 back on it) I stuck with that but you can ask for a pint one Buy tokens near the pews. Its a complicated system so have change in your pocket. Prices vary from 1 token and them giving you change to 2 tokens plus £1. Most strong halfs from the gravity bar seemed to cost 1 token plus 5, 10, or 15p ! Difficult to recommend as everyone's different. I stuck to mainly dark, occasionally Amber and a Badgers Spit cider with my pie (nice & REALLY dry). Few highlights for me. Sublime Chaos from Anarchy - stout with coffee flavours Phobos & Deimos by Atom - really hoppy IPA with nice grapefruit aftertaste Bosphorous by Bricknell - strong malty ruby ale Golden Eye (misspelt as Isle behind the bar) by Black Isle. Golden ale that tasted like toast and marmalade !!!! Enjoy
Beer that tastes like toast n marmalade sounds rather good to me. I can see me rolling out of there tommorrow. I'll give a couple of darker halves a whirl i think. You trued the dark mild in Ye Olde Blue Bell ??
