His programmes were very important in my decision to do a BSc...made things so interesting, especially at a time of Sputnik and Telstar. He seemed old even then and died at home...a full life.

Harm - put the R on the end of "Glaze" to make Glazer, use one of the blanks as an A.

Except that Glazer is a name, not a word. It's glazier you're thinking of. Put HARM over the A and get a triple letter for the M.

Nope. Glazer is an accepted alternative spelling, accepted to the level it's in the Scrabble dictionary.

A City fan tried to attack Rio Ferdinand, but was stopped by a perhaps unexpected individual...

Fair play to Joe Hart, but the thing I take away from that is pure disappointment that Hart was in the way, because I would have loved to see what that little twerp would have tried to do to Ferdinand haha. Would have been like watching a five year old throw a temper tantrum and throw a flurry of little punches and slaps into their parents knees.

Well I wouldn't accept it, that's not English as I know it.

Rio got a head wound from an object thrown from the crowd. As for the lad in the picture...he'll get banned. Unless the opposition player is a cheat, I never blame the opposition for scoring...it's what they are there for!

    How about X?

I'm watching Euro Rugby now, how long has it been sponsored by Bravissimo?

I suppose you all know that Sir Patrick Moore in his sleep today. One of my earliest memories of TV was of him presenting The Sky at Night, and then going on to follow the various space missions through the 1960's. I'll miss the old bugger a lot. He had a fantastic life doing exactly what he loved.

Didn't you know Chilco, whether you like it or not, we are being invaded by the English language of the USA one letter at a time. It would be nice if some people put up a resistance instead of rolling over, but there it is.

Why bother putting up a resistance? Why does it matter?

Besides, the Scrabble dictionary is international rather than UK specific.

I know all the arguments Dan, but those of us of all ages who grew up using the English of Dickens, Austen, Hardy, and the good old BBC, will always grieve a little when another erosion of our heritage happens. Glazer owns Man U, he doesn't attach glass to window frames, that's a glazier.
