So everyone's heard about the "Royal Prank", of those DJs phoning the hospital pretending to be royalty to get information on the overhyped Royal Baby? Well, the nurse who took the call has tragically killed herself, which is horrible, but the general Twitter public are really laying into the DJs involved and saying they deserve to be charged. I imagine death penalty advocates will also be up in arms.

Difficult topic, but not sure how the DJs are getting as laid into as they are. Maybe I'm an arse.

You think that it's over the top to be blaming them for her killing herself?

She made a silly mistake, which any of us could have made. The difference with this one was it went globally viral, due to the self-publicity of the DJ's concerned as well as the royal-obsessed media. I just hope the DJ's concerned have a good look at themselves instead of gleefully laughing at the "prank call" they made. I'm not saying they were responsible for the nurse's death, but they started the whole sorry saga off.

Don't see how the DJs are to blame, making a prank call does not make them responsible for the suicide.

I'm struggling to understand how that drove her to suicide.

I think the DJs were a bit stupid to be publicising it so much, but to kill yourself over something as, well, stupid is this...it's just a bit far.

Pretty much this. She was very inept in the scenario but I think it is perhaps unfair to be blaming the DJs totally for this.

I don't get how that makes you commit suicide. The incident itself was totally stupid, like the Queen would phone through the switchboard and get put through to Kate's ward without a single check.

It's tragic, but I don't understand it. Seems a bit extreme.

Don't blame them but people that still do prank calls and think it's funny should kill themselfs.

Just been reading this guys timeline on Twitter, he's just done a series of tweets on this and I did find myself agreeing with the vast majority if it. Thoughts?

Yeah, more or less. Except I've never laughed in uproar at Phonejacker. Terrible show.

Agreed prank calls are just very **** humour, I don't know why people find them funny.

Of course the DJs are not directly guilty of causing the suicide, that has more to do with the reverence that some people feel towards the Royal Family here in the UK. The fact that the prank call came from Australia and they thought it funny is not suprising as they probably don't fully get how seriously Royal matters are taken by some people. I feel for the family of the Nurse but surely something is wrong when a person would rather take their life than face the supposed 'wrath' of the media over such a seemingly trivial matter.

The witch hunt around the DJs is ridiculous.

The DJs can't be held responsible. Didn't like their prank, but a harmless one. I am amazed the nurse fell for it, but she didn't give away state secrets. She probably faced disciplinary action, but nothing that warranted such drastic action. She must have been depressed anyway...very sad.

Were they the same aussie DJs that did the Tes Coses Cheaper prank? That was funny, and no one killed themselves as a result.

edit : The same papers and websites calling for the DJ's heads were probably the same people calling for the nurses head to begin with.
