    Is it for goodness sake?

I haven't been near a shop yet and grandchildren expect so much.

If only shopkeepers had never invented Christmas.

Fairytale of New York has been poignant for me ever since Kirsty MacColl tragically died on the 18th December 2000 when she was
hit by a speedboat protecting her son whilst swimming in South America. A gorgeous lady with a great voice, she really shows Taylor Swift how to sing a break up song with this classic....

I saw a programme about how she met her death. The guy driving the big boat recklessly fast in shallow water, was some rich Mexican who palmed off his crass ignorance and what could be considered manslaughter, onto some flunky, who would never have been allowed onto the top deck, other than to bring cocktails, and would not have been given the controls in a month of Sundays.

I can't remember the outcome, but the stooge probably went to jail and was paid off by Mr Big to do it.

Days is my favourite Kirsy MacColl song, it's poignant and bittersweet all in one. Amazing (yes, I know it was originally a Kinks song, but the Kirsty MacColl version is much better, no offense to the Kinks).

I also really like the Kirsty MacColl song A New England.

It has some amazing lyrics too: "I saw two shooting stars last night, I wished on them, but they were only satellites, it's wrong to wish on space hardware"

But yeah, Fairytale of New York is also a great song, and I think it's charted every Christmas since it's been released pretty much!

He didn't even go to jail, if I remember correctly he was given about 3 years for mansalughter, but under Mexican law was allowed to pay a 1000 peso fine instead (Which is about £50), and then he had to pay about 500 quid to her family. And he probably got paid about 50x that to do so. So he did no jail time and was probably set for life as a result, yay for justice!

A New England was written by Billy Bragg but Kirsty MacColl's version was fab. A very, very sad loss.

That's what they do in Italy. Should do it here. Put managers out on gardening leave, but still under contract. They just have to sit it out until they get called back in again, to replace the guy who replaced them.

Best song she ever wrote, though, was They Don't Know. Tracey Ullman's version is the best.

Billy Bragg wrote two extra verses of his "A New England" for Kirsty MacColl because she thought it was too short originally.

When I saw it was team sheets I thought they were going to end up being from the 80s and 90s and I'd be pathetic at them, thankfully it was more my era and I got 10. A couple I basically guessed between two though.
