I know two people my age who support Blackburn. No relations from the City, it's just that when they were school boys picking what team to support, Blackburn had Sutton and Shearer and won the PL.

Also, I seem have acquired a very random game from Steam. It didn't cost anything and it's called Spiral Knights. Seems to be quite a low maintenance 3rd person action-adventure type game. Also apparently it's a social one that encourages partying up and such. Interestingly, the world changes in real time because it's clockwork or something. Very random.

Agreed, although today was just plain poor. I'm not sure if it was Ancelotti setting the team up incorrectly, or the team not following his instructions but Real looked like a bunch of strangers today, and they were simply awful. Should have lost by more.

If only they had a player like Ozil....

Have nothing against headscarves, but the covering of women is an affront to equality. And don't tell me that they freely do it because I wouldn't believe you. Some might, but most are forced to by the men in their families. Was never commonplace until recently, so obviously has little to do with Islam (as Muslims have lived in this country for a very long time). How can women take an equal part in society when they are covered up? I wouldn't employ anyone in a burkha or hijab...you have to see peoples faces.

Perhaps. The second most important thing is probably having notes that make sense. Unfortuantely that's where it falls down.

Tbh, I pretty much agree with you. I think over time Islamic society in this country is becoming more liberal as generations of young people are growing up here. I think often you find it's the mothers who are the most traditional and are in favour of arranged marriages and the wearing of burkhas and so on, but I think people who grew up in a more open society wouldn't necessarily uphold these traditions (if they are). For example, I cannot imagine one of my Muslim friends even talking about arranged marriages if she has a daughter.
 
Indonesia is a Muslim country and you don't hear of bad things going on there - it is certainly possible for them to be liberal. If we didn't enter Iraq and Afghanstan, which were/are both, technically, illegal then I don't think people would be as afraid of Muslims and would be more accepting of them into our society. I don't agree with the slaughter and non-sedation of animals for halal meat, however.
 
I think PL is spot on here. I also don't think many Muslim women feel oppressed by being forced to cover their faces, because it's such an old and accepted part of their culture that they just think it's right. Still, if we can teach children properly about equality then girls will hopefully grow up less accepting of these blatant oppressions.

And to build on Jose Fonte Baby's point, Albania, Bosnia and Oman are largely Muslim countries too.
 
Just to pop in with some news...

Marc Marquez has won the Aragon Spanish MotoGP, from Jorge Lorenzo and my relative [Yeah, OK so mightily distant as to not count, but I'm going with it], Valentino Rossi in 3rd. Dani Pedrosa fell off when chasing for the lead.

Which puts Marquez 39 points in the lead [bear in mind it's 25pts for a win, 20 for 2nd, 16 for 3rd] with 4 races left. His to lose, I feel.

Now back to Muslim women...
