I see nothing odd in not wanting to hear the details of their daughter's death,,,it's not as if their absence would have any affect on the trial outcome. These are an evil pair...one will be the psychopath and the other is the enabler. Two people who are more evil together than they would be if apart...folie a deux....like Brady and Hindley. They are not children and certainly knew what they were doing as it was planned.
