    I don't doubt it.

    One part of the design is definitely patented, and that's the desmodromic valve actuation. Normal valve operation is via cams and return springs or cams and pneumatic return operation. Ducati have had mechanical opening and closing of valves on their special motorcycles since the 1950's. It's actually a Mercedes idea, though they abandoned it. Ducati perfected it, and their engines have an extremely high upper limit in revs. At present, the bikes are limited to 17K revs by the racing rules, but Ducati engines could rev to ridiculous revolutions, so they extremely reliable mechanically.

    And wouldn't you know it, you wait ages for a wicket and then 2 come along at once. SA 175 all out. They shouldn't have got that many but England would have taken that before the start.

    Not helped by Cook. He should have bowled out Anderson and Tredwell instead of using Root.
