Good race. Shame about Cal going off but Marquez made things exciting. Vale came in 4th, not far behind, and he's getting it back. Bradley came in 6th too.

Yes, I hear it is superb.

I read the other day about the director's attitude to the film, and it did hearten me a bit, because previous attempts at filming Superman have always managed to come up short in one or two areas. For example, the special effects might be weak or the attitude of the film is too humorous. I like his opinion that Superman is the first and ultimate comic hero. Superman has to be a serious hero or the whole premise falls down from the start. Which is why every film in the modern era has fallen short, bar perhaps the first film starring Christopher Reeve, and I was especially disappointed in the last film, which had huge special effects but was ultimately quite boring. Every comic hero since Superman has been a weaker or perverse version of him. Batman, for example, doesn't have super powers, and so shouldn't have anything like the scope for drawing in the crowds in these days of cinema where practically anything on the screen is possible. I'm looking forward to this one.

This is the best superhero film I've ever seen, by a mile. Apart from the incredible special effects, it has a brilliant exposition of Superman's backstory, together with a great cast. Henry Cavill and Amy Adams are perfect, and the villains, including Antje Traue (see above) just kick ass. In the battle between Marvel Comic films and DC Comic films, DC just took a healthy lead.

Just seen a photograph of Bradley Smith's little finger that he injured a couple of weeks ago. I was going to post it here for GBS to comment on but, I'm not risking it. Yucky..!

They tried to give him a skin graft two days after he did it and the injury was too bad to deal with to get the best outcome possible. I believe he's having one tomorrow after testing. Hope he doesn't fall off again. The day after he did it he came 9th in his race. Today, he came 6th. He rides well with injury, I would say.

I remember some wag saying that motorcycle racers should race with two pairs of fingers of the hand strapped together. It would probably just mean that they'd rub out two fingers instead of one in a single crash. Not a good idea. :)

I'm always a little confused about what "director of football" actually does.

Well Kinnear has said he will make decisions over footballing matters on the TV, bet Pardew is chuffed with that.

Also said 10th is the least they should achieve and realistically they should be a top six club, and a top club in England.

Also said he has far more experience than anyone else. Way to go Joe!

Yes, that was in the days of skin tight leathers, with no protection, and few run-off areas. Motorcycle racing is dangerous now, but in Sheene's day it was only slightly less dangerous than road racing still is, and before Barry Sheene's day it was in the contract of a Grand Prix/MotoGP rider to road race as well, so no protection and kerbs, drains, fallen leaves on greasy roads to stay clear of. Good to watch, but not for me. I know my limitations. I did one track day and that was enough. :)
