Where do you get that sort of background story Joe? I can't reacall the series going into that detail about them but would be interested to read up on some of the characters history.

Its a great programme but there are so many different characters with their own stories running along side the main plots it is hard to keep up.

I've not read the books but have a feeling that the Stark/Lanister or North south war is going to be a side show for when the undead cross the wall and Kalissee comes across with her army.

Kaka has been spotted visiting Orlando City's training. Make of that what you will.

Thanks joe, Its such a complex story that there isn't enough time to properly character build so this is ideal.

I read Game of Thrones etc ages ago and occasionally look at the westeros.org forum (run by Elio Garcia, the guy who George R R Martin actually goes to if he forgets a detail) and I find it interesting how the small changes made in the TV show have shot down some fan theories over there. One example is below and there are some spoilers in here if you plan to read the books but nothing to worry about in terms of the TV show…

[nsfw]In the books Robb's marriage is significantly different. His wife hasn't announced a pregnancy and survives the Red Wedding (she may not have been taken to the wedding actually. It's a while since I read the book but it would make sense - having her there would be provocative to say the least). Anyway, many fans suspected (hoped?) that she was secretly pregnant and would suddenly appear later on with Robb's child. The show has obviously blown that theory out of the water.[/nsfw]

[nsfw] I suppose that the fact that Jeyne Westerling (Robb's book wife) doesn't appear in the books again after she is left at Riverrun prior to the Red Wedding was an excuse to write Talisa Maegyr (Robb's TV wife) out altogether. Why they had to change her name and back-story is beyond me, as it didn't add any value to the storyline.[/nsfw]

[nsfw]I think she does appear briefly when Jaime goes to Riverrun (unless it's just her mother who meets Jaime?) but it's not a significant appearance. I assume they wanted to simplify things in the TV show and also felt a pregnant woman getting stabbed in the belly would add shock value. Once you do that the character has to be changed slightly because she's related to the Lannisters meaning Tywin would probably want her kept alive.

I agree the change was unnecessary though and I actually found that I didn't like TV-Robb so much because of it. In the book he's more sympathetic - a young man who gets injured in battle and makes a mistake by sleeping with the girl nursing him. He then tries to do the right thing by marrying her (probably partly motivated by Jon Snow's history) but actually makes things worse. In the show he's kind of a dick who just sees a hot piece of ass and ignores that he's already spoken for.[/nsfw]

Eurgh, I wish I could go to a festival. Why do people never let me know when tickets go on sale?!

It's like suddenly, "Oh great, Glastonbury is taking place in two months time and Of Monsters and Men are there, wonder if I can get a ticket.... Oh wait, they sold out. Five months ago." *sigh*

You can buy a day ticket on the gate this year, but £90 ain't really worth it. :p

Benga, Madeon and Example were all awesome last night, bumped off the Stone Roses for them.

I was in the dance tent last night which was absolutely awesome. I was told Rizzle Kicks in the Big Top were outstanding but not heard anything about Stone Roses/Paul Weller on the main stage.

Grandmaster Flash and Jaguar Skills on Thursday were also brilliant.

Killers are the main attraction tonight then we have Bon Jovi on Sunday night.

Interesting. Thanks for that! I am reluctant to look anything up myself online in case I come across a spoiler or two. Saying that, I was at a friends house on Tuesday and he blurted out what is a pretty big spoiler grrrr.
