Highly rated teenager Julian Draxler has signed a new contract at Schalke. So, thankfully, he won't be joining Bayern Munich this summer.

Well Wigan are in it. I agree it should be the end of the domestic season, but really I don't think anything could get me excited about this game. Two teams I'd rather not see win any silverware. Nothing against Wigan, but to see a team that's about to be relegated win the FA Cup would really cheapen the whole thing for me. Of course it's bound to go to City though, which is even worse.

Yes I agree , but it's not even headline news on the BBC , is about 5th in line . Just another example of the Impact of money in sport , all sport , not just football .

Yes, I can see how you come to that conclusion, but if I was going to dole out trophies to clubs, then between these two competing, I'd much prefer it to be Wigan. If, IF they are about to be relegated, then what a trophy to take down with them. However, I also share your view that it might diminish the FA Cup, even more as a competition. However, was it diminished by Saints winning it..? Was it diminished by Sunderland winning it..? Both teams were Championship [old Second Division] at the time. I don't think so. The old magic of the FA Cup had enough importance behind it that it saw to it that dreams could be made, whether they were expected or a complete surprise. The fact was that clubs weren't so different in those days, because the money differences weren't so different. The leading clubs preparing to form the Premier League put paid to those small differences, and with the prospect of playing football on a European stage and getting the attention of wider audiences, that put paid to competitions like the FA Cup. The FA Cup has therefore become a competition that no longer fits the modern game. If winning it meant that a team was guaranteed Champions League football, without qualification, then it would be right back in there. The League Cup could offer guaranteed Europa Cup competition. There you go, I've brought both Cup competitions bang upto date.

I dunno. It'll be a boring, scarcely-worth-remembering ending if City win. It'll be a memorable last hurrah if Wigan pull off the upset but go down. It'll be an epic, talked-about-in-every--Wigan-game-for-a-decade match if Wigan pull off the upset and slingshot themselves out of the relegation zone. I'm not particularly enthused, but the narrative isn't written on this one until the year is done.

I hope Wigan wins it. How can it diminish the Cup? The magic of the Cup is that everyone enters it and sometimes the little guy wins it. It should be the last game of the season...though I suppose that will never happen because of the play-offs at Wembley.

Not sure I agree TSS .

The fa cup was the one cup that gave every team a chance of winning , and I think it deserves to be the pinnacle of OUR domestic season and therefore the last game.

Mauricio on Player has admitted that he has had no time for English lessons, but adds he hopes to do better in the summer as he has is going to have daily lessons from a female teacher. Then said, I can get rid of this guy (pointing at the interpreter). I hope he just means that he is going on holiday....if not, I want to set up a 'Save David campaign.' I'll miss him.

We'll just have to sign some more Spanish-speaking players as an excuse to keep him!

Apparently we can expect to be seeing Falcao to Monaco in newspapers tomorrow. Amazing if true.

Well I can see why Monaco would be an attractive proposition in that case.

A clever owner would also buy up the casinos and high-end car dealerships...you could pay them whatever you liked, it'd all end up back in your pocket anyway.
