I really don't understand how people are treating this as a flawlessly executed police operation. They almost killed a 19 year old who was hiding in a boat. They did straight up kill the other suspect. Okay, obviously better they're caught than on the run, but let's not pretend they've done it perfectly.

It sounded rather disorganised on the radio, but then I have no clue of standard US police and FBI procedure etc.

They were probably caught between a rock and a hard place. If they had the man surrounded and he wan't going anywhere with no hosatages then they could have waited it out as the man would have to have came out at some point as the main aim was to take him alive to get the answers we all seek. However with the blood leading to the boat, they would have known he was injured but wouldn't know to what extent. This would have meant that they had to act quickly incase he bled to death but at the same rate couldn't go in all guns blazing incase they killed him. Not really sure what they could have done but would have thought there are plans in place for such things.

They did pretty well, considering. One of the suspects reportedly charged them with explosives strapped to himself; there's really no way to end that peacefully. With the other, they waited patiently for a negotiator to show rather than charging in, and as a result he's alive (it sounds like his wounds were suffered earlier).

Compare that to the LAPD handling of the Christopher Dorner situation, in which they shot two Latino women and then flambeed his cabin (without being certain that he was even in said cabin), and the BPD wins for restraint.

Pamela Geller @Atlasshrugs In the wake of Newtown, President Obama focused on gun control. In wake of Boston bombing, Obama must focus on JIHAD CONTROL.

Was just about to head home/ bed when I saw this. ****ing hell Americans are dumb.

She's a thoroughly loathsome creature, who has allied herself to the 'anti-Jihad' forces on the continent...namely neo-Nazi and neo-Fascist groups. Breivik cited her repeatedly, and very approvingly. Yet she gets to appear all over the American media as if she was something other than a vile person who wants an ethnic purge of the United States.

Yay I won something! But very relieved that the 2nd bomber is in custody. Glad he was in no condition for a Mexican stand off.

It is easy for internet users to get very opinionated and question police tactics etc from what they see on tv, but it must be damn difficult dealing with situations such as in Boston over the past few days - no matter what country its happening in. US law enforcement are more gung ho in general than in some other countries, but there cant be any easy way of dealing with ruthless people heavily armed with powerful explosives & various weapons in built up urban areas, no matter if they are 19 years old or whatever age.

This guy is always around North End. He goes on for ages until the cozzers show up.

Even more ironic is that the local residents were chanting "USA" as he was captured........will they ever get out of their own arse?

In equally hilarious news, a Czech Republic ambassador living in America has had to confirm to the Americans that Chechnya is not in, or anywhere near the Czech Republic.

Everyone is talking about the Boston attacks, but at the end of the day only 3 died. There was an earthquake in China earlier that killed more than 100 and several hundred, maybe thousands injured. But as it was in China and it was mother nature doing the killing no one gives a **** I guess.

The American love the whole "Us against the world" thing.
