You have to respect her courage and conviction in changing Britain into one that she believed in. Although I didn't agree with her political decisions, from a historical perspective her impact on both parliament and Britain's position internationally is unequivocal. That is why, for me, she goes down as our 'best' PM.

Serious hat on for a second, it's fine to post your reaction to today's news, but please take the full on politics stuff elsewhere. The main reason is that it quickly gets personal. Although it seems Godwin's Law has already been invoked.

What about when Bin Laden was killed? that was generally accepted as pretty good news.

Margaret Thatcher cannot remotely be compared to Hitler. Or Osama Bin Laden or Saddam Hussein.

If the UK Mining industry was uneconomical and losing huge amounts of money, that's hardly her fault.

Also, what is this Godwin thing? I've heard it mentioned a lot but not 100% sure what it is.

Godwin’s Law is an internet adage that is derived from one of the earliest bits of Usenet wisdoms, which goes “if you mention Adolf Hitler or Nazis within a discussion thread, you’ve automatically ended whatever discussion you were taking part in.”

She cynically put millions of people out of work just to support her ideology and the underclass and poverty gap grew under her tenure...Her lasting legacy is that destroyed whole communities and promoted the selfish 'greed is good', 'look after number one' culture which exists still to this day, as she one famously said "there is no such thing as community".
She had a negative effect on many people's lives that I care about including my own, so excuse me if I feel a little bit happier tonight.

Well, people are gathering in Glasgow and setting off flares and drinking etc.
