McDermott gone.

Reading Football Club has announced today the departure of Manager Brian McDermott. Owner Anton Zingarevich wishes to place on record his thanks to Brian who had achieved great success with the club since taking over as Manager in December 2009.

Brian gained promotion to the Barclays Premier League last year for only the second time in the club’s history thanks to a remarkable run at the end of last season. However, in our current situation, owner Anton Zingarevich felt that a change was necessary.

The search for a successor will start immediately and it is hoped that a new Manager will be in place as soon as possible to lead the fight against potential relegation.

Well that was stupid. They'll go down, and now they won't have McDermott to take them back up again. Bye Reading, say hi to Wolves for us.

McDermott's sacking made even less sense than Nigel. Cortese didn't think Nigel could take us to the next stage, because he is very ambitious. Sacking McDermott at this stage only makes sense if you think another person can save you as he would have been the best person to bring them back up. I hope for their sake they have someone lined up!?

The Falkland Islands' referendum results are in now... 98.8% in favour of remaining a British Overseas Territory.

    Voter turnout was 92%.

Blimey, if we had such a turnout on mainland UK we would actually have a valid Government for once.

Had the most awesome dream last night. Was in les mis, except it wasn't les mis but same plot. It was day time and I was among a huge crowd of people, waving flags (i was waving my ponpey flag) and singing can you hear the people sing (after I looked up the tune on YouTube). At the end, the army came and started bombarding the barracade with cannon but as far as I can remember, we stood firm. Wish I could remember more of the dream.

"Southampton executive chairman Nicola Cortese described the club’s head of communications Julius Duncan on his appointment last December as bringing a ‘range of experience and skills that will help keep Southampton at the forefront of communications in the years ahead’.

Yet less than three months later Duncan, recruited from financial PR, has resigned apparently because he was unsuited for the post. He certainly had little empathy for football, as shown by the botched PR handling of manager Nigel Adkins’s sacking."

Another big-appointment behind-the-scenes man has left his post just a few months into the job.

Might be a good thing that Julius Duncan has gone. I saw local reporters (Solent etc.) saying Duncan only had time for the media big boys and not the local news outlets who were being allowed to ask about two or three questions to the manager before having interview ended, or he attempted to end it.

If he's resigned because he's unsuited - whatever.
