That actually happened several years ago...guy with HIV and leukemia who had his immune system eradicated in treatment, and then received a transplant from someone with the HIV-resistant gene.

There's been considerable speculation that it could be replicated, but the mortality rate for that sort of treatment (IIRC, somewhere around 20%) makes it something of a non-starter, given that the odds of managing the disease with normal treatments are quite good these days.

US u-20 GK Cody Cropper has had a really solid tournament. Had no clue he played for you guys. 1-1 in the final with Mexico at the moment and really glad you let him stay for this final. <ok>

Would be good to bring through a good GK from the youth sides...something we haven't done before. Cody only joined us recently so must be considered a good hope.

What sort of crowds do you get at reserve/u21 games? Do you normally play them at SMS or do you play at another local ground [Eastleigh for example]. When we had a reserve team :emoticon-0101-sadsm they played at Westleigh Park [Havant & Waterlooville]

I think we are required to play a certain number of games at SMS, but otherwise Eastleigh (may be u21s only). U18s can play at Staplewood.

We had 1,500ish for Utd at SMS in December. It's our second (and last) at SMS this season, although a few are at Eastleigh for fans to watch.

Does anyone else hate the whining Charles Green of Rangers? Listening to that voice makes you want to blow either his brains out or your own. Is there a more miserable person in football...imagine living with that!

Back in the days of Sturrock and Wigley, when the reserves were still playing practically all their matches at St Mary's, I remember there was a crowd approaching 10,000 for one evening match. The Kingsland stand was almost full, and some were spilling out round the corners as far as was allowed. I think it was against Arsenal. Peter Crouch had been transferred in but was still not getting a 1st team game. He was head and shoulders above... NO..! I do that again. He showed much more skill than any other player on the pitch. Scored too, maybe more than once.

Just had to shell out £100+ on new gear for refereeing, and I still need some new boots. Damn it's not cheap.

It is when you referee games and get that money back. I referee 2 games on a Sunday, that's around £40 a week.

Very true. This weekend I've got a line on a game at Canvey Island (Ryman) and then two to ref. That puts £66 in my pocket. :)

So the girl I mentioned replied, apologising for the late reply, confirmed that she broke up with her former bf but she says it would be lovely to see me but she's busy for the next few weeks and but she'll let me know when she's available to meet up though.

She won't though. No offence to her but in my experience, if I'm not proactive and if I leave it to other people, nothing ever happens in terms of meeting up. And that's my experience with loads of people, even people who are completely just friends and aren't prospective dates.

The girl has replied and said she's busy. Okay...not the most enthusiastic reply but better than being ignored. Cheer up.

I'd leave it at that for the time being. Stating that she's busy for the next few weeks sounds an awful lot like 'I'm not ready to consider something right now, but with a few weeks, I might be'.

Just in case anyone has forgotten**, there's an important match tonight, Villa v Man City. 8 o'clock start.

**I know it's unlikely, but you never know.
