The split of the UK electorate at a General Election hasn't changed, there are roughly 50% CentreLeft/Left voters and 35% Centre Right/Right voters with 15% floating voters.
The Centre Left vote is traditionally split between Labour and the Lib Dems more so than the Centre Right with The Tories and the Lib Dems...The share of Lib Dem voters has been fairly consistant at General Elections and the floating voters usually voting against the Party (Labour or Tory) that is least 'popular' at the time.
The rise in popularity of UKIP and the decrease in popularity of the Lib Dems is very bad news for the Tory Party...UKIP will draw votes mainly from the Right vote whilst the Lib Dems will mainly lose votes from the Centre Left vote to Labour.
It could be that for the first time that Labour could well be elected with enough seats without having to rely on the floating vote.

Green Party is a stupid party. Their manifesto doesn't contain anything about big issues such as education and simply states what they want to happen and not how; they should have stayed as a pressure group.

Quick search for 'Green Party Education' throws up this page: http://policy.greenparty.org.uk/ed

Loads on there, and explanations of how.

Thank you for the advice, Jen. I do agree a lot of it is non-verbal but I made a specific effort to maintain eye contact with all three of the interviewers and that's something that they mentioned in their feedback, which doesn't fit in with the idea of being nervous really. I honestly thought I was sitting normally, I can understand if you're leaning forward or backwards though, but again I make sure I'm sitting with my back straight against the back of the seat.... So I dunno, I think it may have been just, they decided to go for a more experienced candidate (story of my frikkin' life) and had to find something negative to put. In all the feedback I've had before, I've never had anything to do with nervousness.... I dunno. On the other hand, I was just going for a comms role, it's hardly something that would require in-depth physco-analysis I'd have thought! I may have to borrow that quote from you Jen! And if it does lead to a job, I'll be forever in your debt!

...

As for politics, no party accurately reflects my views. I'm too idealistic to be a conservative and yet too pragmatic to be a lib dem, as for labour.... They seem incredibly opportunistic and the kind of party that would say and do anything to win a vote which is a massive turn off. The other parties are too extreme, whether too extreme right (UKIP) or extreme left (Greens). And tbh, most politicians are the same: out for themselves and are often hypocrites.

Godders, can I become Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change please?

Sorry to hear about your continued struggles with interviews lampras, hopefully a successful one is just around the corner. Seems like Jen has some good advice there, and as it has worked for her recently then you should try it.
I interview quite often and to be honest as well as following the usual modern guidelines gut feeling comes into with me. Be yourself is about all i can advise - too many people try to act outside of their personality at interviews imo and it sticks out like a sore thumb. I once argued the toss with one person when i was being interviewed for a job by a board of 5 persons, because i didnt agree with what he was saying, and i still got the job because one of the board told me some time later that they were pleased that i had the courage of my own convictions about recircing cooling water in arctic waters.
Do you have more job interviews in the pipeline ?

Thats a pretty neat round up of the various political parties - but it makes you wonder if democracy is worth having !!

I voted for the Natural law party when I lived in Southsea, William Treend was the only candidate to knock on my door so I voted for him.

Here's their election broadcast, it gets good around 1.10 so stick with it yogis!

Thank you very much StG, you've made my day.

I can just picture the Grandmas and Grandads on 125cc scooters, with or without sidecars, visiting relatives and friends. The Sales people on their big long-legged Tourers going from city to town, and back. The students on their 250s, buzzing about, whether it be just across the city, or a short zip up the motorway. Then there would be the people in a hurry, with their 650-1000cc sports bikes, on the outside lane of the motorway. If they can do it in Europe, then why not here..? Of course we'd need some smaller 4 wheeled vehicles to take goods and stuff off the trains which would carry most of the freight, etc...

But there would be no traffic jams. No excess fuel consumption. And at the end of a trip, the riders would be happier because motorcycling is just so much fun. You know I recommend it to everyone. :)

As Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, I will demand that energy companies reduce the price of the tariffs, none of this softly-softly rubbish. I will also provide incentives for increasing the proportion of energy that comes from green sources and will also encourage universities and technology companies to research more effective renewable energy sources.
