why have breaks?

Most American shows do it - Walking Dead's is shorter than most, from early December to mid-February

It's for a number of reasons - because they can make fewer episodes to cover a whole year, they can hit the main TV ratings months etc. All about the money.

Breaking Bad's mid season break is about 9 months. Absolute torture.

They have breaks for holidays as well, such as thanks giving/christmas and major sporting events. Glee's season break is from around December to.... March or something? Though there's a few 'off' weeks even before then.

It's a challenge. What's even worse is the new series of Glee, while starting in America back in September, hasn't started here. But as I 'like' Glee on Facebook, I get their updates which are just full of spoilers from the American showings!

Also, does anyone play Civ 4?

Been considering acquiring it illegally, but my internet is too ****ty right now to be torrenting enormous files. Rome: Total War is my current strategy game of choice.

On Sky they are going round club shops for Xmas presents. Not that I have a great urge to buy a lot of Saints stuff but does anyone else think that we have very little in our shops compared with other teams. Perhaps we are just too smart to buy it.

What do people think of this...

Seven year old boy Neon Roberts has been told he requires urgent surgery to remove a brain tumour, but his mother is unwilling to consent.

However a court ruling today has said he should have the operation even without the mother's consent. The operation can be carried out today.

What do we think of this? Fair, correct? Unfair to the mother?

What's the reason for the mother's objection? Religious beliefs? This seems fair to me.

Ms Roberts, 37, a New Zealander who lives in Brighton, East Sussex, had initially refused the radiotherapy saying that after research she feared radiotherapy would a "damaging effect" on Neon's future.
