This little comic that my brother made in Paint a while ago has been re-posted time and time again on Reddit, and I've just seen it on the front page again. Thought I might as well share it here.

He admits that he took no time over it, and he doesn't actually find it funny. He's rather bemused by its popularity.

I know. He wanted to see how popular something can get that takes so little effort. I can't find the original post, but last time I saw it had something like 500,000 views.

They'll never be as good as France, Spain, Italy or Portugal.

Everything eh? Do they have a more skilled labour force? Are they more productive? Do they have a better economy? Better healthcare? Better law enforcement? Better sausages?

No, no, no, no, no and hell no.

The weather is better, the way of life is better, the food is better and they have chouriço, so yes.

Healthcare is pretty good actually, if you've got a serious injury you'll get seen to straight away.

Yes. I travel to Germany regularly (approx once a month, maybe every two weeks) with my job. The people are friendly, warm and helpful. They make an effort to speak our language better than I do. The road systems are great and the airports are very efficient. The food is fantastic and they are good and fair in business. I like Germany and Germans alot.

To be honest Adam, I don't know why I'm joining in with you. I have tried debating with you before, but it's difficult. You ended our Terry debate with "leave him alone"... hardly an adult debate.

You have judged a country by one visit when you were 12. Take a step back and think about that.

Well, we do have really good barbecue. And gardens. Lots and lots of really big gardens only we call them yards. What else? SUV's. Lots of big old SUV's.

Yeah so we got that going for us.

If it were possible to award that title to any country, it would surely be somewhere like Sweden or Norway. Germany would be right up there though.

I have to say, Beddytare's post is quite possibly one of the best posts I've ever read on this entire site. Very moving.

Well I think I'd have to go for New Hampshire just because it seems particularly fitting. Though taking the fitting-ness nature out, I think I might go for Rhode Island: New Hampshire's too far north (so I'd imagine would have quite a cold climate, then again I think even the northern states have much better climates than the UK), Virginia's very humid from what I hear and I'd want to live in a coastal state, which pretty much leaves Rhode Island.

And Mr Ramirez, a foreigner could quite easily have exactly the same experience in this country, you get plenty of chavs who mouth off in this country but they shouldn't think we're all chavs. Likewise, a foreigner could travel to a nasty town and end up thinking all of England's like that.

What I'm saying is, don't let one negative experience dominate your entire view of a nations and it's people. Yes, first impression are powerful, I don't deny that but often they are, to at least some extent, wrong.

Most of the problems in this world (geopolitically speaking) are as a result of people generalising an entire nation based on their experiences with or of a small number. For example, hating Americans because of George Bush. Every country has it's chavs but also has it's nice, well-mannered friendly people. Likewise every country has it's rough, nasty areas but also has nice areas. No country is perfect but equally no country is completely terrible.

Yeah, Germany must have its nice places, like Bavaria.

    What's wrong with George Bush?

It's such a great place to live that Sweden, Norway and Germany have higher suicide rates than Spain, Portugal, UK and Italy. That tells you something <whistle>.
