I'm happy that I don't live in Germany. I'll never go to Germany again, I only went there before because I had to, I had to fly from Munich because the airport in Innsbruck was snowed in.

Germany is just how you imagine it in your head. Cold, sad, dark and violent. I got to the airport and the people at the security were treating me like I was scum, they wanted to kick my teeth out...

Thank god, I don't get this in the UK where the people are so friendly. British people are on the whole really nice. You can meet some "nice" Germans, but they start to get all arrogant and they want to control you all the time.

Just to add to that point, xenophobia would imply that you treat all foreigners with equal disdain, rather than singling out one race.

 

Reminds me of that British Airways Captain who took a wrong turning on the taxiway at Dusseldorf, the Controller asked him had he not been there before, the Captain said "Yes in 1944 but I didn't hang around".

Maybe because they are idiots who wanted to beat up a 12 year old boy (I was 12 at the time).

 

I'm really happy that I'm British. If I could choose another nationality I'd be American. American or British.

 

The UK can often be all of those things.

 

And 12 year olds are notorious experts when it comes to judging an entire country based on one short visit.
