That's trending on Twitter. It's possibly the most accurate trend ever. Though the X-Factor's always been fixed. Completely lacks integrity as a tv programme. You do get some good singers on it sometimes though (e.g. Ollie Murs, what a ledge)

My mother re-iterates how much she dislikes him. This week particularly, he has been on the radio a lot. She finds him cringeworthy and overly cheesy.

Unnecessarily cruel to make one singer think she was through and then change his mind...shouldn't be allowed. Was actually Ryland's best performance, once he dropped his silly cringeworthy act, but still not a good enough singer.

Great music though! I just want to dance with you tonight, DTLW.

Also it seems #fixfactor is no longer trending..... Bit of Twitter manipulation perhaps?

Anyone with half a brain can tell why the X-Factor is pointless. It's not fixed, because that would imply that it's rigged in some way. The reality is that the competition itself is pointless. Talent scouts aren't going to pick their talent based on whether or not they win this competition, and they know which contestants are going to be worth signing long before the competition is over. Cher Lloyd finished 4th in Series 7, but she was the real winner. Simon Cowell knew he would be signing her from the moment he set eyes on her in auditions, but obviously she had to jump through hoops for a couple of months to reel in some more cash from the morons who are stupid enough to vote.

The reality is that record labels are only going to be signing young, attractive people with personality. It doesn't matter if they win the competition or even come close, they're getting signed anyway.

Yep. One Direction too, from the same series. Who has been the bigger cash cow - Cher Lloyd and One Direction, or Matt "Chrismas number one then **** off forever" Cardle?

3rd and 4th place from that series. Cowell snapped them both up. During Cher's first audition you could see in his eyes his was thinking "she's going to make me sooo much money." I'm surprised One Direction have done so well but somehow they've got Americans' attention.

It is fixed because the judges can manipulate who leaves and who stays as a result of them having the final decision on who stays and who goes which could be done either to keep a weaker act in longer to provide less competition to a favoured act or create controversy (see Katie Waisel, tonight as well perhaps), to knock out a strong competitor for a favoured act, etc. Yes of course certain acts will be signed regardless of how well they do but that's only to some extent. Basically you need to get to the semi's in order for there to be a possibility to have some degree of success. Yes, earlier on there might be an inclination as to who would be marketable but if someone doesn't get reasonably far in the show, the public will forget them much quicker so it is within their interests to make sure they go reasonably far.

And what has Cher Lloyd done except for one **** number 1 and one other song which was a bit better but I don't think it go to number one? She's hardly all over the place (like One Direction are).

That doesn't make it fixed. The judges are playing by the rules.

Cher Lloyd has had three top 10 singles and an an album which sold a quarter of a million copies in the UK, and has just been released in the US. Her most recent single sold over a million copies worldwide. She played major festivals this summer, made a breakthrough in the US and is now apparently working with Snoop Dogg and has started on her 2nd album. She is 19. If that's not success, I don't know what is.

I am prepared to admit I am no judge of music...but why are they raving about the guy in the specs? He can't sing in the dimension I live in.

Well, fixed isn't the right word technically.... I'm not sure what is, but you know what I (and everyone else) mean(s). Although perhaps you could argue it is against the rules sort of as it's meant to be decided upon singing ability.

Perhaps, I still don't like her as an artist though.

Dude with glasses, you mean one half of that band?

Neither do I. I don't like any of this manufactured tripe. But it's very easy to look at these people and determine who will be successful and who won't. The judges are people who know the industry and they know who is going to be a cash cow and who isn't. Every decision they make is calculated to increase the hype around their potential cash cows, and also to try and keep the morons watching and voting. Making decisions for any other reason would be inefficient from their point of view. You'd be a fool to think they care about anything other than money.

I have no idea who you are talking about as I don't watch the X factor. It's not the fact that it may or may not be fixed. The reason I can't stand the programme is because it is so cynical. At the televised stage, there are people on stage who are obviously very bad at performing and they are panned on national TV in front of their families- yet these people have been through more that one audition prior to getting that far. They have been chosen for ridicule. And anyway, I can only stomach so much karaoke.
