Why on earth would he admit he scored an own goal on purpose? It would be virtually impossible to prove that he scored an own goal deliberately. I suppose someone noticed that a large sum of money was placed in his bank account after the match, if he was paid. If he wasn't paid, he's an idiot as he would have gotten away with it had he kept his mouth shut.

 

Sounds like Lecce offered him 50,000 Euros to do it. Magistrates have suggested that management at Bari and Lecce both knew about it, and may also have affected some games which determined who qualified for Europe, as well as relegation.
