Should Beckham have been selected?

Probably one of the most committed English players in a generation. Courage, passion, desire....all things lacking in this modern English side. If Giggs is considered in the top 3 over 23 gb players then beck ham certainly sold be. Fact is he would have been a better midfield pick in the euros than Milner and downing. His crossing ability is still the best in the world bar non and he fitness is still superb. Massive mistake from pearce if it was a choice of Richards or Beckham.

And on non footballing reasons whats going to be said when half filled stadiums for these games occur. People wold go to see Beckham put in a shift and probably the last chance people will get for that. Hope Bellamy or Richards gets an injury and Beckham gets back in.
 
Football and the Olympics really don't go together. For any sport to be in the Olympics it should be the biggest thing in their calendar. As such golf should not be getting a look in, or tennis. How does this relate to Beckham? I don't know but I just thought of it. I find it hard to believe that their isn't a better over 23 year old playing in Britain than any of the above mentioned.
