I haven't really got a problem with him being on that thread as it is meant as a place for banter. The only problem I had was with him being a mod.

I personally dont like the Liverpool Man Utd Banter thread. It is a waste in my eyes as rather than debates being spread out it all seems to happen on that one thread.

    I vote close it <ok>

Nobody has given a valid reason as to why Golden-brains deserves to be knighted?
What has he done that is extraordinary?
I named people that have done what he has in terms of academies and charity work ie Ian Rush and Jamie Carragher.Should they also be knighted?
Kenny Dalglish hasn't been knighted as of yet and he's done far more than Golden-brains on and off the pitch.

When have you ever given any valid reasons for anything?

Where are your valid reasons for why that skirt-wearing imbecile with his stick insect tone deaf wife should be knighted?

He's been a footballing icon for England for the last 10+ years, always representing England very well. He's world renowned for being a good footballer and a nice chap. He's done a lot of charity work, academy work and even helped with England's world cup bid - he didn't have to do any of this but did so anyway. He was a great captain for England and has never done anything majorly wrong in his career and is still humble despite his millions of £s.

Overall, he is a dependable representative for both our country and football who is world famous and a nice man. None of the other people you have mentioned are as famous or likeable as him which means he's far better suited to diplomatic work. I for one would be very glad to have him as a 'sir' as he is a fine representative of our country.

I have and none of the reasons are valid.
All it is,is yet another media kiss-up to Manchester United. Its similar to how Bobby Charlton undeservedly was knighted.

He also put up with a hell of a lot of sick **** from people after the 1998 World Cup. The way he was treated would have badly affected most people but he handled it perfectly.

One of your reasons is he is ''a Nice chap''
So is Gary Lineker who had a near 20 year and started with his home-town club Leicester City whom he also donated to when they were in financial need,as did Emile Heskey by the way.He also was never booked. He also played in 2 world cups.Does he deserve one.
What about Ian Callaghan?,booked once in a 20 year career. One of English footballs gentlemen, started his career in the 2nd division and finished it as a European Champion.
What about Kevin Keegan,a manufactured legend,a man that became great due to the encouragement he recieved from his manager whom he worshipped.Twice European footballer of the year.
Icon this,Icon that.Icon is another word for hero.Being a hero is no reason for honours.
Kenny Dalglish is a hero to many and he's not recieved such an honour.

Erm what? Why shouldn't Bobby have been knighted. Let me guess, because he played for Manchester United.

Funny how you're saying Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir David Beckham shouldn't be knighted while a load of ex Liverpool players should be... I personally agree with you on Kenny Dalglish but it's some massive double standards on your part.

I believe Bobby Charlton was justified, as was Matt Busby. I don't think Beckham deserves one though.
