I really hope we aren't going for Beckford. Not the kind of player we need and he is not better than what we have already got.

Beckford is a good player at championship level, but I just don't want us to sign him. He comes across as arrogant and a big-time Charlie.

I think we should just leave it to Adkins. Despite his attitude, I've always really rated Beckford. Adkins got the best out of him at Scunthorpe so I think he would know how to deal with him if he puts up a moan. Saying that, I don't expect Beckford to drop down to the Championship as he seems to be still wanted at Everton.

I saw Baldock mentioned earlier, thought about mentioning his name too but was a tad unsure on his record prior to this season. If he's on form before January we should get him then.

I would like to thank the Everton board for turning down this make believe bid <ok>

Beckford would most probably be a disruptive infulence, some NA and NC would never want!

Baldock has always been quite a good prospect IMO, worth the recognition.

I read on SSN and in the Echo that we had a bid for J Beckford rejected.

What do people think of him as a potential target and do you think he is the right sort of player / person to add to our squad?

Personally having seen him a year or so back against saints for leeds, thought he was v. light weight, in effective and constantly whining at the ref.

A few people i have spoken too also dont rate him and think he could be a disruptive influence.

    Thoughts anyone???

I don't rate Beckford at all. Great pace, but his finishing is awful. I always said he was never a Premier League player and I think his time at Everton has proved this, hence why he is open to a move back down a league. Not good enough for us.

I really have problem with this........why on earth would we need Beckford? Is it realistic for him to drop down to the championship again? In my view we have equal if not better strikers at the club already. Why would he leave a team like Leeds only to go back to a team like Saints. If he can't cut it in the premier now, should we be fortunate enough to make it, we would have to replace him then anyway. If he can't make it with Everton why would he make it with us. Things are not adding up here they truly are not, well for me anyway.

Agreed Beddytare. He would not drop down to us; Everton are in trouble as it is - what are they going to replace him with? They cannot afford to buy anybody of any quality and I think if such a deal came off - we would be buying a player with know aggrogance issues and I do not see him as a team player. Wrong fit for him and us.

no thanks! bad attitude and not that great a player. Seem to remember Barny outscoring him in league one so nothing to suggest he is better than the players we have in reserve.

to be honest I would like NA to bring in another overseas striker if he is going to do anything. Another versatile brazilian with flare and pace, a smaller quicker version of Guly!

Precisely, I also remember him throwing a hissy-fit when subbed off in that game after being booked for diving to try and win a penalty.

He seems to have the complete opposite attitude to the team Adkins has molded and would be a poor signing in my opinion. No doubt after a season of mediocrity in the Prem he would want ridiculous wages aswell?
