Also, Eire, I think you're being very harsh on GFHC. Everything they've done so far has been positive, more communication with fans, official club twitter accounts launched, half season tickets, BBC back commentating and at press conferences, 2 (admittedly small) cash signings and a top quality loan. I think it's very sad that they're being judged in some quarters purely by how much cash they spend. Remember Bates has left them with a club with virtually no cashflow. If we're going to re-build and progress it's going to be steady, with any major investment coming in the summer when we won't be held to ransom over players.
"LUFC Official ‏@LUFC Neil Warnock confirms that Luciano Becchio will return to training after illness"
I'm with you Simon lay off GFH, they have only been in charge a few weeks ffs. They are learning the ropes and trying to build bridges while doing it. They never said they were going to spend crazy money and in truth dont need to if the club can find the right players. If your support of owners is only on the millions they spend maybe you should defect to Man City.
You will not find quality players without spending money. Bringing in Thomas for a handful of games is not progress. Selling Becchio will not be progress. Why dont GFH simply say, we dont need to sell? The little things theyve done off the field have been welcome but its on the field major changes are need. We are more than a couple of players short at the moment
Cheers for your post Simon. Confirms some of the bravo sierra at the start f this page was just that. Some Tw%t saying Becchio will be at another club by the weekend.
Ere, the original post said he'd be gone by the weekend. Not seen anything yet to suggest at he n't banging the goals in for us against Brizzle on Saturday. But I note the point you are making.
Eire, I actually think Tuesday night, albeit agast a poor Brum side, showed what we can do when we pas the ball about & have people playing in their natural places. So we had a left footer playing LB, slightly quicker people than usual playing CB, and options at RB. Some have suggested that Byram moves to RM to allow for a bit more of his natural attacking flair to shine through. Not sure myself. Who else would play at RB if Byram fractured an eyelash & had to miss a game or two? Green at RB or Pearce? We have Hall as one wing option, anyone else? What's the best formation for Becchio, Ross, & Diouf to ensure that all three play? Ross in CM just behind the other two in a diamond formation, or Diouf? We have Somma off the bench. If Becchio, Ross, & Diouf are all starting, who else apart from Somma would be on the bench? Poleon? Who else? If we keep ball on the floor & get the formation right, we really are going to be quite a handful for most of the sides in this league.
I agree on Somma, as he was two years ago. However after the length of injury he's had, he'll need lots of match time to recover his form. It's vital he does as he could be like a new signing. Seems to be some issue with Hall though in Warnocks thinking. He's been at the club for about a dozen games or more but seems to only be making cameo appearances. I suppose we were warned he would be one for the future and they probably werent thinking eight weeks. We need minimum 37 points from 19 games to have a chance of play offs. That effectively means there is no more room for slacking or the **** performances of late. In my book, to put that sort of run together will require more changes in personnel than two
I have to agree, I think we need 3 or 4 real quality additions to mount a serious challenge for the playoffs, possibly even a couple more than that. I do believe GFH will invest a reasonable amount, not loads but more than Bates, and it's still early days so I will reserve judgement until we can truly determine more about them. What does worry me is Warnock's recent comments... “We’ve been asked to give targets and we’ve given our targets,” Warnock said. “We’ll have to wait and see what happens. Shaun Harvey’s in charge of that side of things so we’ll see over the next couple of weeks who we bring in. We’re trying." Well Harvey is the same clown that can't seem to tie existing players down to new contracts and fails in every transfer window he's had a handle on... I feel this is where our biggest problem lies.
These comments coming from a manager that thinks we were ok in recent games when every report in media and from fans here and other forums, stated we were ****e. I question if Warnock realises how far from a promotion side we are or does he really believe one or two will finish his jigsaw. He may be slightly deluded. Problem is we're only probably two defeats away from our season being over when that target of 75 points will be out of sight
It's all the bloody assistant manager Mick Jones fault with his comments the other week, he has brought all these rumours on. The club, Warnock, GFH or someone needs to simply state not for sale at any price he is under contract and we want to get promoted and offer Becchio premiership football with us. They were willing to let Snoddy run his contract down, Becchio has what 18 months left? IF we can replace him with someone better and that is the plan then get that better player in first and listen to bids with 48hrs to go before the window closes, someone will be mad enough to pay over the odds.
Lesser known ... by you? Even if they are lesser known, it'd still mean it wasn't a fact that they don't look at Hull players wouldn't it.
