Southampton
James Beattie has been in Southampton in last couple of days, don't know whether you're about to sign him or if he is down for the Southampton boat show, could make a good squad player...

Be interesting if he gives any hints about where he's going, but he's definately beein in Southampton this week

He's often in southampton, he has a house here, his wife and her family are from here.

Saw a bit of socceram when he was being interviewed. He didn't seem hungry to play football, just looks like he's holding out for the best financial offer to me. Not the attitude that would interest Adkins & Cortese (not that I think they are interested in him anyway)

kinda make sense for him to finish his career in Southampton, would make a good squad player, come on for last 20 minutes

Beattie only ever played well when he was the first choice striker and scoring regularly. Whenever he came back from injury etc, he always took ages to get back his form. Considering his age and lack of fitness, all that makes him probably the worst player to have just sat around the bench.

Beattie is not the player he was last time he was with us. If he came back, fans would have to be prepared to realise this. From Adkins' signings, he seems to be wanting to sign younger players that can develop further, so I'm not sure we would go in for him.
