Dear Jonah Neither myself or any Budgie came on to this thread to hurl insults of any kind, but then you came along and decide to have a pop at our fans (as usual - and that is the problem, you always do it. Moan about Norwich fans on "your board", for some odd reason you can't stop yourself). What the hell do you expect? Are you really that stupid because it's beginning to look that way? If you want to contest that comment, read on first. Here is another example (one of far too many) That will be the self-righteousness I was talking about then, and as for never insulting perhaps you should add - bull****ting (ditto) on to the end of that sentence and remove the braindead part As for being on "your board", tough buster, a good number of your fans seem to be near permanent fixtures on ours. If you don't like - sod off, you will not be missed very much I promise
I don't think the dust is going to settle for some time, rumours of Hoolihan wanting to jump ship now as well. You losers will be feasting on this all bloody summer at this rate
Can you blame us? For three years we've had hardly anything to take the michael out of, now everyone wants to jump ship!! Never known really anything like this before!!
Hi Paul I saw all this in the 90's when Robert Chase caused Martin O'Neil to resign after 6 months in charge, sold off all the strikers, then effectively pushed Mike Walker out of the door when were in the best era of our history! This is small fry in comparison to me but I know to you guys it is like all your Christmases and birthdays at the same time, but of course you need to make the most of it, as what goes round comes round eventually
Ray Houghton just summed it all up so beautifully "Norwich fans won't want to hear it but Aston Villa are the bigger club, when you look at the size of the club and the history" - who would've thought your club achievements and history are relevant?! The thing is Thai, it never comes around, Town might be going through a bad spell but last season and just being in the top flight was and is as good as it ever gets for Norwich
I think you'll find what has just happened is what I have been saying will happen for the last two or three years, whilst you lot all had your head in the clouds. Except that I thought he'd go straight to Celtic and not Aston Villa.
It was always going to happen at some point and I think most of us knew that. What we didn't see coming, and I do not think you did either if you are being totally honest, is that it has happened this year. We'll give him 3 years at Villa and I am sure he will be off again as the boredom sets in.
It's a very different proposition at Villa, Norwich were only ever going to struggle next season because the board are clutching the purse strings so tightly. The only thing I wasn't expecting was for him to stick the knife in by resigning without even having a new job set up.
I don't think it was a risk at all Hampy, I reckon he had the Villa job in the bag before the end of the last game of the season. (Good conspiracy theory as they go) I do agree about the purse strings but by all accounts the club has little or no choice in that matter, as PL knew only too well when he took the job. Hopefully we can survive next season then we will be debt free (externally) and have the funds to compete a little better.
just one quick point because frankly i'm philosophical about the whole thing. is there one ipswich fan, anyone, who honestly believes that had paul lambert been the manager of ipswich town for the past three years and taken you into the same position as norwich currently are, that he wouldn't have gone to villa too? because we all know he would he's got a heck of a job on his hands at villa and is by no means guaranteed to succeed. i wish him all the best and i for one hope he gets his wish to manage at the very top of the pyramid. it won't be with villa though - he'll have to move on again. as for norwich, we move on to the next manager and see what he is capable of. a new era
You still banging on about the Aston Villa manager? Time to let it go, mate, he's gone and it's not interesting anymore...
He might not have left if he was manager here but we will never know, the only managers to be poached from Ipswich were for the England job twice!! Although I really think Lambert is a good manager, as I said to you before he has no loyalty and how he has left both you and Colchester is a bit of a disgrace IMO, he's only out for himself. Which tells you something about how he sees Norwich's season going next year, as he's taken over a club who looked terrible and if they had played anymore games I'm pretty sure would've been relegated!! It's pretty ironic though how he thrashed Norwich with colchester and his next game he is Norwich manager, then his last game with you was beating aston villa!!
my point is, it is more about who lambert is and what he is aiming for than the club he has left. he'd have jumped from any club of similar stature including your own. i have no problem with that at all - he only has one life and he is trying to get to the top of his profession. if he feels villa is right for him then he has to go there. i feel no bitterness towards him. oh and you've misjudged why he's left - he's left because he will get more noticed at villa and have more chance of a bigger job afterwards. he's probably right too. he also probably has more chance of winning things in fairness though that looks some distance away. he still has a lot to do to turn that team round! it won't happen overnight!! but you're right, it is ironic. bizarrely, brendan rodgers last game was a win over liverpool...
supers I dont think he would've left Norwich if the board werent being such dicks. I'm sure he wasn't expecting a £30m transfer budget but not stumping up a contract for the striker who has earned you something like £100m is frankly ridiculous. In the long run, being tightfisted but relegated debt free or not is not as wise as taking a risk and investing to stay in the top flight and keep the money rolling in. You don't have to break the bank like Pompey did, I'm sure Lambert wouldn't want that. Town have backed our managers and would do so even more in the top flight so I don't think Lambert would've left.
