I have a rotten memory too, but I think that he was cleared by an FA or a League Enquiry and returned to work for the club.

I wonder if what the PC Brigade would call bullying is pretty much endemic in football, particularly at the top level.

Dame Alexandra and her famous 'hair drier' treatment for example would be classed as bullying in any other job.

Peter Reid in his famous Behind Closed Door TV rants is another good example.

If the accusation comes down to somebody not liking being shouted at, it may just be that he's picked the wrong profession.

The racist claim is more serious though, if true. I just hope that it's not someone playing the racist card, because that does the cause no good at all.

To be honest I'm not going to knock him cos I am certain that is the case at Sunderland. Some f*cking w*nker over there is controlling all of the players. Every one of them looks terrified to play well.

Newcastle's Under 23s coach Peter Beardsley did make discriminatory comments and his treatment of player Yasin Ben El-Mhanni was ‘generally unfair’, an independent appeal has ruled.

The 22-year-old winger made an official complaint against Beardsley in January but was then told he would be released by the club when his contract expires in the summer — despite his case of bullying and discrimination not having been resolved.

El-Mhanni is still set to leave Newcastle even though an appeal following the club’s initial findings has upheld several claims of unfair treatment.

Sportsmail can also reveal that a follow-up hearing into allegations of racism against Beardsley took place last month.

This was further to statements originally made by several academy players in January, and lawyers acting for Beardsley asked questions of those who have brought the allegations.

The 57-year-old has been suspended for five months and there is frustration among club staff and academy players that the investigation has been allowed to drag on for so long.

Beardsley denies all the allegations.
