In a way its good timing Gerrard being sacked immediately after Beale rebuffed Wolves and reaffirmed his commitment to us. It would be a u-turn of Liz Truss-like proportions to change his stance now. Agree Villa are arguably a more attractive option but their fans are pretty horrible.
Plus he knows that they are a mess, some good young players but the squad haven’t delivered for the past two managers, despite some big spending. I think they will go for Poch if they can get him - unlikely - or if they just want a survival expert Dyche. They only won 2 of their last 11 league games last season while Beale was still there, and those wins were against two of the relegated teams. The rot set in ages ago.
Don’t know about Glasgow Rangers, where the competition is quite a bit weaker, but the more I look at the Gerrard/Beale team at Villa last season the less impressive it looks.10 wins in 29 league games, only 2 in the last 11 games, after spending over £30m in the winter window, excluding Coutinho on loan.
