Everyday i come home from work, my lad informs me of the 'new favourite' to take the helm at Loftus rd. My enthusiasm has totally drained for it. The impression i get ( i might be totally wrong) is that the board want a man who can be manipulated, a yes man, we are signing this player so make it work, selling him so make it work etc etc.
We all have our opinions on who is or isnt the right man for the job. Time will only grant success or failure. Our history of appointees under the current regime doesnt inspire me with confidence.

I don’t want KR, he looks like a smug thug that talks too loud on a train.

'bobmid' ......... l think you are 100% correct.

I'm hoping with crossed fingers and toes it will be Beale, but l don't think he would come to a club with such limited vision & budget.
I hate to be negative but l seriously think our owners are happy to be mid table QPR.

Perhaps they are just trying to appoint someone who will work well in a team, with shared decision making, with Les, Ramsey and whoever. Which is what modern management is about. If the collective approach is to give youngsters a chance in the first team if the collective management think they are good enough, we need a manager/ head coach happy to do that. Which Warburton wasn’t.

Not that I get the impression that Les is especially competent at whatever it is that he does.

The last manager we got from Oxford ( Hasslebank- wanted people to put a smile on his face / bribe ) ....... hope this guy doesn't smile!
This is old news, supposedly but its the latest l can find.

    Would still much prefer, Beale.

Oxford United head coach Karl Robinson bookies' favourite for QPR manager's job

KARL Robinson is the new bookies’ favourite for the manager’s job at Queens Park Rangers.

The Oxford United head coach’s odds tumbled over the weekend and he is now evens with Sky Bet.

As things stand, there is no indication a move to the Sky Bet Championship club is in the offing.

Robinson was first installed as a front-runner for the QPR job at the start of May but slipped down the list.

He was also reportedly a target for Hibernian before the Scottish club appointed former Sunderland and Bristol City manager Lee Johnson.

The U’s boss is under contract until 2024 and appeared to brush off rumours of a move when asked about the links last week.

Robinson told the Oxford Mail: “It’s always nice that people talk about you, but I’ve never been motivated by some of the things people think I am.

“I think it’s something you listen to – people will ask questions and speak to me about it consistently.

“That just means you’re doing something right and some people are happy with what you’re doing.”

QPR are looking for a replacement for Mark Warburton, who left at the end of the season after guiding the Loftus Road outfit to an 11th-placed finish.

Aston Villa assistant manager Michael Beale is second favourite behind Robinson at 2/1, with former Denmark striker John Dahl Tomasson third at 6/1.

Gareth Ainsworth and Liam Manning, in charge at United’s Sky Bet League One rivals Wycombe Wanderers and MK Dons respectively, are next at 10/1

    Hasselbaink came from Burton Albion.

Jim ‘Bald Eagle’ Smith came from Oxford. I liked him.

Yes! You've expressed what my vague reservation is. But then his MK team tore us a new one in one of the cups a few seasons back.

    Blackburn or London? No contest.

Looks like we're getting Beale, and if we do it will be a job well done by Ferdinand, I'd say.

Yup, this feels like this would be too divisive. The board can't be completely oblivious to the feeling amongst the fanbase, this feels like such a precarious time now. Whatever happens and rightly or wrongly patience will be in short supply when the season starts.

Like i say, only time will tell and that goes with whoever we appoint. We have to support any new guy, regardless of prior opinions.

Looking at the overall picture Beale seems a good appointment.
He’s earnt his coaching ‘stripes’ by the bucket load.
Has worked in successful teams to gain a winning mentality.
He seems to have a varied approach to team set-ups for games.
Has a good understanding of the youth system (and hopefully development through to 1st team)
His reputation with players is very good.
He has gained good connections with clubs (for loans and/or youth signings)
His coaching approach seems to keep players on their toes and interested.
He obviously feels this is ‘his’ time to step up.
    On the other side:
It’s his first time as Manager/coach - can he step up?
He has limited time to get set for the season start - he’s going to be really up against it.
Can he get the players he needs to fill the big gaps we have?
What will be the relationship between him and DoF/Ramsey?

More positives than negatives, I guess. But as always the style, spirit and results will prevail.

This would be a positive risk to take, much better than a ‘name’ who would only ever join us well past his peak. Let’s hope he’s the next Graham Potter.

    First time manager...not worried.

Limited time...not with players...they are not here..but to get and identify ones... maybe...but..suspect they are part and parcel of the deal...and we will go for them...and he knows what he wants...

I think he is definitely the best of the ones we are after
