Marvellous performance. I thought he was finished but never happier to be proved wrong. I've already got my Wednesday ticket for the festival so I just hope UDS and the black aeroplane line up. Worth the entrance fee on it's own.
Funny old game, the jumps. I'd never been so certain of anything when calling for Kauto to retire having been pulled up at Punchestown. Two races later he had won 5 Betfairs and 5 King George's. Unbelievable stuff. Still my favourite two commentaries by Simon Holt. Henderson echoed Paul Nicholls so much in the build up, cautiously optimistic but no longer in denial like he was when defending the horse and performances the year before. Both noticed demeanour changes where the horses were happier and their "old self". There was a glint in their eye that said something special could happen, but that look of worry just in case it didn't materialise on the day. Sprinters age means he cannot repeat the mind boggling, giddy heights of the past but can reach high enough to still thrill the romanticists in the sport.
