I have no bloody idea tbh but i did get those "rules" from the FA site. it may be because Brazil have not played that many A team competitive matches with hosting the world cup, they have waived that for him, maybe thats the time to get them on a run up to a world cup in their country lol
Well I know that, they wouldn't have spent £25m otherwise, I'm just unsure as to why as it goes against the rules as mentioned above!
Brazil have played 19 friendlies 4 coppa america ties 2 2011 Superclásico de las Américas ties and thats it, in the last 2 years. Oscar has 6 caps so because they havnt played any proper games apart from the 4 coppa america ones, thats probably how he got through the loophole i would imagine
So it's just competitive games that count? That doesn't help us at all. If you're playing regularly in competitive games for the likes of Brazil/Argentina you go way beyond our station.
yeah i know, thats why the likes of Real Madrid, PSG, Barca, Benfica, Sporting etc etc can snap up these wonder kids when they are younger, then sell that at a premium once they have become household names. I can understand why the rule exists, but for me its a bit harsh, we miss out on a lot of talent because of it. I know its just a game, but Championship Manager, I was playing it with my brother, I went to buy ronaldhiho when he was 16-18 (he was a household name even back then) for Sunderland, would not let me, my Brother went in as he was Inter Milan, not a problem, after that I was barca, couldnt be doing with that crap, but its just like real life. it sucks but what can we do.
Well if the rules were stringent he'd have to have played in 75% of Brazils games over the last two years and he's only got 6 caps which is roughly 25% of their games. But as Steve pointed out there may well be a loophole in the law.
There's always been an appeal system in place, people can call in references etc about a lads potential and all that bollocks. Clubs will lodge the appeal with the work permit application, and often they'll pass. Oscar is one of the best young talents in the world, hence he'll have gone through on 'instant appeal'. We got knocked back on this system for Brad Friedel when he was a young lad, so they **** it up sometimes!
didnt we 'go the foreign route' with mixed results recently...? gyan, cana - both good players who didn't stick around for whatever reason.. elmo, angeleri, riveros, da silva.. didn't work out so well...
My scenario runs something like this, Ellis what is my budget, well MoN how about £20m for starters...now if MoN has to waste £15m+ on a plodder like Fletcher that leaves less money for other players such as another striker, or a creative central midfielder or a LB. So like a few that have posted on here I cannot see why we continue to pursue Fletcher and have not moved onto other probably just as good if not better overseas targets. Then again perhaps we have but nothing has been leaked about it?
