    Same as Jock/Taffy!

I've had a few reports saying this is racist! It's not racism!

If you don't like my post - take it to Cyprussyd...

PS The irish are not a race!

I think calling someone a 'Paddy' lacks judgement.

Also making Irish jokes is indeed racist. I know what Pud means about the Irish not being a race in terms of classification but it still is racism. Look at Top Gear making comments about Mexicans. The Mexicans are not a race, but it was reported as a race row.

All I would say is whoever called the poster a 'Paddy' has to do is apologise and I'm sure that's that.

I've family from both North and South across the water and they do not like being called Paddies in the same way I don't like being called Jock.

I'm not going to get drawn into this argument but I understand that the Irish are regarded as an ethnic group and it would seem that racism and racial discrimination are frequently used to describe discrimination on an ethnic or cultural basis. I don't know if this is an accurate description but I believe the United Nations conventions do not distinguish between the terms racial discrimination and ethnicity discrimination.

In any case, I think EDGE could be in trouble here so it might be advisable for him to apologize.

    Irish/English/Scottish/Welsh ... none are a race! Nationality - yes. Race - no!

    Paddy is, at best, xenophobia

Pud has an inbuilt dislike for the Irish.

Look at the hack of him trying to justify it on this thread.

    I'm serious.

    I understand it too.

It's not that you dislike individual Irish people, that's ridiculous and very Hun-esq. but the way you throw yourself into Irish related matters almost 100% negative tells its own story. We are all moulded by our life experiences whether we are aware if it or not.

People would assume that I'm anti British by many of my posts. I'm not, many of my family are British and I like many things about British people.

It's just life experience that shapes certain prejudices. No biggee

Ps. What the **** should EDGE say sorry to, erm, EDGE for?

You do realize that as mod for this forum, you could, potentially, also be in trouble if seen to be allowing racially discriminating remarks to stand?

Maybe, maybe not. I've seen you doing it when it's been clearly not a wind up. It's just human nature to everyone regardless, me very much included. I'm not at the wind up here either Pud, I wouldn't do that believe it or not.

I've explained my reasons for not removing them!

People take this place, and the internet, far too seriously!

"Worse" has been posted on here... potentially, not that I agree, the use of the word hun could get a lot of users in trouble.
