Despite the hysteria over this, isn't this simply a tax issue and coming to an agreement over how much we owe, just like any other personal tax case? HMRC say we owe £x and we say we owe £y so the tribunal is to go through the use of EBT's on a case by case basis and reaching a conclusion.

This has nothing to do with the SPL and there were no footballing laws broken as EBT's were a perfectly legal method of tax avoidance. Would you like everyone's ISA's to be investigated just in case they didn't do it right?
