Autosport is showing the deal as unconfirmed, due to contract issues supposedly.

Surely Heidfeld's contract was race by race. In case Kubica came back.

He's ahead of Petrov on points so who knows what clauses are in the contract, after all Renault would have been desperate.

Would love to see what Senna can do though, in a much more capable car than his hispania.

I'm pretty happy about this, Heidfeld is a waste of time he's never going to do anything big or new. Senna is an unknown quantity it's not like driving a Hispania can be a judge of skill. I can't remember how he did relative to his teammates though, anyone care to fill me in?

Unfair on Heidfeld. He has bad luck with fires and being crashed into, think it's a waste of time.

Well clearly Heidfeld just wasn't leading the team like they expected and he was only ever a stand in so they opted to try out some drivers for the future. Expect to see Grosjean in that seat this year as well.

yar only Klein beat Senna, and Hispania said that the cars were considerably different, 4 secs a lap was quoted somewhere, but against team-mates in equal cars he generally out-qualified tham and out-raced them. He suffers because of his name, I thought Hill was a waste of space too, who would never have got near an F1 car without his Dads name. His performances at Arrows proved me wrong, so I have a little bit more time for Senna. but for a change of mind from Barricello he would've debuted in the Brawn, instead of driving a WCC winning car he ended up a season later in a 4 wheeled wooden spoon. I think he deserves his chance, but personally I would've dropped Petrov, he's cack, not as good as heidfeld who, as someone mentioned, has had all the bad luck, yet still leads Petrov, who is only 5 points ahead of Kamui, who has pretty much the same amount of experience and is in a far worse car.

1000 post quiz will follow in a week or 2

Reckon this is a trial for next year more than anything else. Renault have been disappointing all round, I thought they could inherit the BMW role but they haven't even managed that - shows how badly they miss Kubica.

Never been convinced by Senna - I doubt I will be proven wrong but there's a first time for everything
