BBC - Liverpool make bid for Lallana

The trouble is that I can see the day when a super rich footballer challenges the contract system and all top players will benefit....and all the hundreds of other players lose their security. Without a 3-5 year contract, how can a footballer dare to buy a house or risk moving his kids' school.

 

Ben Smith saying Lallana has told the club he wants to leave, but hasn't handed in an official transfer request. Nothing new there, then.

By putting in a transfer request, doesn't Lallana forfeit the 15% or whatever he would get from the transfer? Show's how much he really loves the club if he's after his share of the money.

So yeah, Lallana doesn't care who we appoint. Not even going to give him a chance. Now I hope we appoint a manager tomorrow but wait to announce on the OS until 5 seconds after Liverpool signs Shaqiri.

 

The board should not back down. If he wants to go then he should convince Rodgers to pay the asking price.

He is rapidly going down in my estimations. I can accept he wants to leave but there's a right way to go about it and a wrong way to go about it. Maybe his agent is mostly to blame here but Lallana certainly hasn't covered himself in glory.

 

Message to the saints board: Stay strong here, otherwise it sets a terrible precedent. Things will finally start swinging in their favour if they get a big fee.

I don't think it's about the fee. Or might well be for his agent, but not Lallana.

These guys are pretty deluded. Handing in a transfer fee is like a formal breakup/declaration of dislike. And he doesn't dislike us. It's just that he doesn't like us, either. At least not, you know, like THAT.

In Lallana's opinion, he's making a perfectly reasonable request to the board. He thinks they will come to their senses and he can walk away friends with the board and the fans without all this nastiness of a transfer request. He doesn't see the other side's view, or that Blackmore is doing him no favors with these "leaks."
