??? I think we should all just laugh as there must be some crossed wires somewhere. I think we've all been saying that, but you seemed to be saying Sterling wasn't very good. I must have misunderstood. Apologies.

I agree. But all of the people you mention happen to be world class players. I mean, come on. Sterling in that list?

Who knows? I doubt he'll be quite at that level, but he has the potential to become very, very good in my opinion, yes. I picked those because they're the most obvious ones. We can do another list at a level below if you like? Shall we start that list with......hmmm.....I dunno.....Lallana?

I know Walcott doesn't have a great football brain, but how many more goals and assists can he get?!

I didn't say he isn't good. I just said that potential is largely irrelevant until it's been fulfilled, and with a player like Sterling, who relies sooo much on pace, the potential is suddenly very vulnerable. Lallana, and the world class players previously discussed, have much more to their game, and therefore their potential is less vulnerable.

Sterling and Sturridge have both looked great playing in a team with Luis Suarez. Anyone would, he creates so much space for his team mates to play in. Lallana seems to have better close control than either. He hasn't suddenly become **** just because he's left us, unfortunately, even if he has become a ****.

(Although I'd suggest a lot of Robben's game is about pace first off as the key weapon. As is Bale's).

You've obviously not seen much of Sterling to think his game is all about pace. The fact that he played in that position behind the front two for a lot of the season shows his game is much more than just pace. His tight control and dribbling skills and improving all the time and uses skill to beat players rather than just knock the ball past and run. His composure if very good for someone so young and he also offers a lot defensively. He's only small but his strength on the ball I very good allowing him to easily hold off players bigger than him and not scared of a tackle

His passing ability is improving (see his pass for Sturridge's goal v Swansea) and Rodgers will no doubt help him improve his tactical awareness like he's done with other young players the past couple of years.

He's not where near the top level yet but the guy has come on leaps and bounds in a season and if he carries on improving like he did in the last 6 months he could very well develop into a brilliant little player.

    Reminds me of this:

Base a player on all aspects of their game. Don't exclude a key part of someone's game and compare them to a player who is comfortably weaker than the other in the excluded area. All Lallana has is skills and Cruyff turns, what else has he got? :)

Not sure the Mayuka/Sterling comparison is really going to offer your argument too much weight I'm afraid Black! If Sterling *only* had pace (as you oddly seem to be asserting) then the comparison would be more valid.

Actually that was just a bit of a joke. I like Sterling. I just think Adam is better.
