Yeah, can definitely remember him taking one or two last season.

in the brief clip, when the new manager was mentioned, he immediately spoke about how good MP was. Body language was a little uncomfortable too.

By the way, I haven't seen him say "I want to leave"... have you? I believe he wants to, but that is the first interview I have seen with Adam and he was certainly not portraying anything either way.. stay or go, so how you can read it as positive I don't know.

I didn't see any energy or enthusiasm in him, let alone a "I can't wait to get back and work with the new coach and convince everyone to say"

He always seems nervous when interviewed, even when he's not talking about subjects as delicate as these, so analysing his body language, etc, might not be terribly productive.

FLT is right that he hasn't actually personally said anything that commits him either way, but judging by the assumptions some people have made, anything he says that isn't obviously throwing his toys out of the pram will be interpreted as positive.

Nope. But I have definitely heard him say [and so has everyone else here] that he wants to play in the Champions League one day and that he wants to stay and grow with the club. That was at the Awards ceremony only a few weeks ago.

As far as Luke Shaw is concerned, I haven't heard him say anything other than that he thinks that Southampton are the club he should be at for the next few years of his career at least. And you can find that in various interviews upto quite recently.

Sell. He won't be captain after what he's already said / done and that will cause problems. We could get a quality replacement with £26m and Borini showed last season he would be a fine addition to our squad. Its like getting £35m added together. Sell.

p.s. whats Borini's number going to be? Got to get my shirt done.

The Independent are reporting that Liverpool are pulling out of the Lallana deal, to go after Xherdan Shaqiri.

I don't get this assumption that, given the right sale price, players can simply be replaced. It's not a matter of going to the marketplace and saying "we'd like a creative midfielder with a brilliant first touch, the ability to steal a yard of space with a simple move, with a good engine and the ability to defend also, please". I don't think Lallana's burnt any bridges and am still hoping he can be persuaded to stay. If not, then make Liverpool pay a price that hurts, but don't let's assume that he'll be easily replaced because he is a rare talent.

The price also serves as a warning to other clubs.

The thought of Borini in our side excites me about as much as a trip to Slough.

He would be an excellent player for us. Obviously I'd rather we kept Lallana but £26mill plus Borini is a good offer, if true.

I'd only take Borini if we also brought in someone less speculative to be the number one man, and even then I'd not be too happy with him really.

He wouldn't be our main striker, I don't think. He'd probably be used mainly on the left, either in rotation with Jay Rod, or with Jay Rod playing down the middle. Borini looks a very useful impact player, and seems to score in all the big games.

I wanted Borini when we first got promoted to the Championship after he was released by Chelsea, but I don't think he has progressed into the player I thought he would. He is decent but not much more.

What has anyone seen Borini do for either Bindippers or Sunderland that gets people excited?
I have seen little or nothing over the past season or so of him that makes me wish he was a Saint other than a possible bench warmer if all else fails

'All the big games' basically being the two derbies and the Chelsea game, where two of the three he scored were penalties? ;)

Believe he's scored 5 goals other than penalties from 30-odd starts and 20-odd substitute appearances in the Prem (and I haven't seen him provide much else in terms of assists/build-up play when I've watched him), he certainly has the potential to score a lot more but don't think we can rely on him for anything above a super-sub role. Certainly replacing either Rickie or JRod (Even just on a rotational basis) with him would be incredibly risky unless we are going to be scoring a whole heap more goals from midfield... Which would be handy.

You'll find that the Sunderland supporters are very positive about him and his ability - I'm going on the fact they'll know a lot more about him than I do.

You know when other fans moan about signing Pochettino/Lallana/Lambert etc and it's annoying because they've only seen the odd clip on match of the day, or read stories in The Sun about beetroot, in comparison to us who've watched them week in, week out. Well this basically in reverse.

(Although I'm not getting over-excited about him either for some reason).
