You need to differentiate what is earned and what is declared as earnings for tax purposes. Every single black cabbie out there keeps two books, to the tax man he shows that total yearly earnings are about £12,000 and then claims all the tax back for fuel, food, pile ointment etc but lives in a house that would need earnings of £50,000 or higher to afford a mortgage on. The more money you earn the more you pay your accountant to claw back or "do a Harry" and hide it away. A drop of 5p in the rate is now meant to encourage high earners to be honest and stop avoiding or fiddling the tax. Unfair or not I guarantee you they were not paying half their "earnings" in tax each year. Earning money is the hardest thing to do but once you have got enough of it then keeping hold of your wedge isn't at all difficult.
One's going back in June I wish I never got that fake M3 either, trip to Manchester and back is £80 My old car got me down and back up AND run about for a week for £80
Another bitch that's gettin' sued eye, eye, eye, eye can properly account for every, every, every penny of that tax.
Am a bit worse off, the only bit that scares me is how much i'll spend on cigs and how much profit I make in general
I'll be around £500 worse off on ***s and booze - more worse off this year due to pension increases but some of that will be offset next year.
Most of the highest paying industries have offshore offices, so it begs the question why to hell would someone who obviously has the means to relocate chose to stay in the UK and pay the highest income tax in the western world?
