    Exactly!

I think some united fans are so desperate to not come off like every other club who hasn't had the same manager for 26 years, that they are willing to stick by a guy who is clearly out of his depth to save some sort of face.

The appointment was a risk, it has failed dramatically. Time to move on (certainly at the end of the season anyway). Though I hope you don't!!

Why can't Moyes apologists grasp the fact that there is absolutely no point in referring back to how much time Fergie was given 26 years ago. Why can't they see that the financial culture of the game has changed immeasurably in the same way that it has for all sports.

Just look at cricket and both codes of rugby - all changed beyond comparison from even 15 years ago, let alone 26, and all down to one thing - the commercial imperatives of modern day sport entertainment - for that is what it is.

I firmly believe that Moyes has lost the dressing room, or rather the players who know what it is that makes the club tick - they don't respect him, and they, like me, don't know where the necessary miracle is going to come from. Moyes hasn't shown any leadership, he hasn't once stood up and said what he wants from the team, this is how he sees things, this is the way he wants the team to play - not once. Instead he bumbles along at each post-match conference saying how unlucky we were not to score a few more goals, and how 'overall' he is happy with the way the game went....................it's all smoke and mirrors, it's all bluff. The guy has shown himself to be clueless and tactically naive.

Any other manager would have decided on a style of play, a preferred formation and a first team of choice, yet here we are in the back end of February and he dithers and tinkers and seems only to react during the game, rather than send out the team with any cohesive plan. That uncertainty has fed through to the players and is the reason for our decline.

Moyes is a relic of mid-table management from 10 years back, his kind have no place at the top table managing major European club sides.

Just say Moyes was out of work - would any of the top clubs in Europe be banging on his door - NO, would Fulham, Southampton etc etc....of course.

I think thats it. A feeling of superiority from both the club and the fans. Yes we are a little old school in some aspects but that means we are not forward thinking or as willing to adapt as other clubs.

Basically the exact same as the last dominant force in football. Liverpool believed they were different and could do things that others wouldnt ever think of. During those days united were the forward thinkers.

We are no different to other clubs in reality, we may be a little classier than some but then others have more class than us so why persist with this 'united way' bollocks?

The united way is to strive to be the best we can he, to entertain the fans and to be the shining light for English football. Even in our darkest times these still applied.

Today I feel some would rather we persist with moyes to save having to deal woth abuse from some rival fans because of the stick we gave over chopping and changing managers.

We wont suddenly become Chelsea by sacking moyes. We wont be sacking managers every Monday morning ffs.

If you hope, pray, have faith or similar that moyes might turn it around, you want him out just like me. Just admit it.

If you want English football to progress beyond the old school ways of today and the past...

    You want moyes out.

You may well be right. But I personally would still rather give the guy a proper chance to prove himself, rather than chuck him for the latest flavour of the month who'll be gone in another six.

If a proven top class manager like Klopp does become available in the summer then I can see a good argument for making a switch. But ditching him for A. N. Other (Or A. N. Yone as UIR seems to be arguing for), on in the hope that we can magic a top class manager out of thin air, is only a recipe for disaster imo. There's no guarantee any other manager would do any better regardless of their CV - I would have thought a Chelsea fan would recognise that as well as anyone (AVB and Benitez ringing any bells here?)

Bit harsh here Swarbs, top four finish and a European trophy with the "supporters" undermining him all season was a pretty good return.

This is a really poor attitude, a guy is "out of his depth" because he can`t keep an ageing squad at the very top of the tree for one season? Any appointment of a manager is a risk, it can only be classed as a faileur when he has built his own team and "failed". You are now delighted with a manager who has progressed to the top and now taken two steps backwards when he was found out, Porto to Chelsea = step up, Chelsea to Milan = step up, Milan to Real = step up, Real to Chelsea = two steps back.

He could do a good job for anybody, he is a proven good manager. Rafa`s problems are he spends money on ****e and is too easy to wind up for the likes of Mourinho and Fergie (in the past), when he has the players in his squad he knows how to get the best out of them.

Wasn't really having a go at the manager. They ditched the manager who won them the CL because he was in third in the league, and replaced him with a manager who won them the EL and kept them third in the league, in the process pissing off half the supporters and publicly giving up on the league title. That's something RDM could almost certainly have achieved on his own, given the squad he had.

Benitez would probably do alright for us if he was given time and money, but there's no point bringing in someone like that if it's just a knee jerk mid season reaction, with no long term benefit to the club. It would only be worth making that sort of switch if it was for a proven world class manager who we'd definitely keep for the long term.

I think it is very patronising of you to pretend to read my and other fans minds on this. When I say we ought to give him a chance and not to sack him, I mean it. When I say I think he could turn things round I meant that too. And I couldn't give ****ing **** of what others think about us chopping and changing managers. I just think that changing managers after a few months is just counterproductive. With the next manager do we give him another 5-6 moths and if we hit a bad patch, do we sack him too?

I think we ought to give him a chance. He did do a good job at Everton. Fair enough, Everton is not United. the pressure is much much worse at United. And he cannot get away with 2 defeats in a row like he would at goodison. And if by the next season, we are struggling to beat mid table teams or overrun by top teams, then we should sack him.

I am not so naive not to realise that times have changed and that Moyes is not/should not be given the same amount of time as fergie. The club has amassed enough goodwill. trophies, money, global reputation, and fans over the years that one or two years of transition will be worth risking if it meant that we play competitive and flair football over a prolonged period later.

    Quite right.

The biggest thing that bugs me about UIR's continual rants is that he says, with utter conviction, that Moyes has now lost the support of all United fans.

Which I know to be complete and utter ****ing bollocks as you also no doubt do too.

We're all entitled to our opinions of course and I'm no way convinced that Moyes will turn this around but I find the continued hysterical screams for his sacking to be cringeworthy. It's not on, at all.

What do you see in Moyes' first eight months of transfer dealings, man management, tactics and long term strategy that make you think he is the right man for United?

In fact, what qualities did you see in him at Everton that make you think he could be a great manager at United?

You mean his TWO signings? One has been injured most of the time, the other just settling in.

Other than that, did you miss the bit where I said I wasn't sure he could turn things round? I'm not sure, I just do not believe in sacking a bloke without giving him some time to have a go at his job.

People should be sacked for misconduct. He is not yet at the point where he should be sacked for being incapable of doing his job. I credit myself with having a good level of intelligence, sadly lacking in a large majority of posters on this forum, you included, so I understand the enormity of his new position and get why he needs just a little bit of time to get his head around it.

I doubt any united fan givea moyes their full backing.

If they do then im worried about them.

I dont do blind faith, hence my lack of understanding from those who do.

The crucial word there is FULL.

I've already said that I'm 50/50 on whether he'll make it as a United manager but while he is I support him fully because that's the right thing to do, it's nothing to do with blind faith.

Not supporting the manager in charge is counter productive. It won't help a thing. I genuinely, 100% and with a complete set of marbles believe that if he gets the full support of the fans and then still fails then of course he has merely proved himself to be not good enough and should be relived of his duties. He might well start to get it right though.

You were calling for him to be sacked after his first poor result, it's this I disagree with.

It wasn't aimed at you. (clearly)

However, being intelligent is what makes me know I am. It also gives me the ability to spot those who are as thick as dog **** pie.
