Rachbuka - 3rd choice Blackpool player and they didn't want him - Bad signing Defence - Been poor for two years plenty of time to be sorted and it still hasn't Grayson picks the players - he needs to stand up to Ken now and say invest or we continue to make these mistakes with the quality I have available.
Genuine question, no piss taking but how many in your current squad came through the youth system that are good enough for the 1st team?
I think the defence has been improved. We have had a clean sheet either side of the Rachubka debacle. White, Lees and Howson all came through and are regulars in the starting eleven and there are a few knocking on the door. Not to mention those poached by Spurs, Villa etc. The youth system seemed to go quiet for a bit but recently it's starting to pay off; Lees and White are the first two to become first team regulars since Delph.
Do you want us to tell you all the premiership players still playing now that came through our youth? How many of yours did?
Did anyone notice that out of the 2 players chelsea poached 1 has just retired cos he was **** and one is playing for MK Dons so maybe the grass isnt greener at Chelsea
So you're a selling club then? Point i was making was that you need a good blend of home grown talent in your team as they know what the club is all about and how much it means to pull on the shirt but if all you do is sell anyone that can kick a ball then not re-invest in the squad no wonder the manager and players **** up a bit cause no one really gives a ****, they're just there to pick up their wages or hope a bigger team comes in for them.
I think you're wrong, we have had over the past few years too many players who want to do their best for leeds but just aren't good enough and the fact that they are homegrown they get let off for mistakes and bad football Howson, Naylor Obrien all deserved to be dropped in previous years but weren't because of the homegrown part of it!! Ive seen players come through our youth who have given no effort whatsoever eg Kewell!!! But then ive seen players who have no affiliation with our club come and try their hardest week in week out Kisnorbo. It all depends on the type of player you sign not where they are from!
We're the most British team in the league, and I reckon we have more committed characters than any other team too. None of what you say is an issue, and hell, even the scum are a selling club. Real Madrid managed to prise Ronaldo away from them, right? I find 'selling club' is a pointless expression.
It doesn't matter what team you are or how much a player is worth every player has his price and then you have to take personallity into the equation - Look at Man City and Trevez, his value is lowering by the month and his disruption to the team unreal.
Not spent any think? You all as bad on here as you are on other one. Let's look at what has been spent then shall we? 1-0 Let's look at it then. We are signing Danny pugh for half a million We signed andy o'brien for a undisclosed fee. He was a prem footballer will not have been cheap? 200k 300k 400k 500k 600k more?!?! We have a prem player on loan again not cheap. The Preston gk was paid for all so. Bates all so said he had max money and kasper money to spend on top of what he all ready got. That is about 1.5m or not far from it. If he spent it and got it wrong he be gone faster then road runner. So is this why he will not spend it? Grayson has ALL WAYS said the money is and was there. Not forgetting we have one the biggest wage bills in the cc
I only said selling club as there seemed to be some pride in the fact that you have so many ex players plying their trade in the prem. I'm all for players wanting to better themselves and who wouldn't want to play in arguably the best league in the world. My point still remains that the bread and butter of every team outside the prem is the youth system and you can use that to nurture talent to then sell for maximum profit or you have a player that has the club in his blood who will want to play out of his skin week in week out therefore saving you on transfer fee's etc. It all comes down to whether your club has the same ambition as the players. If you want to play in the prem then do a job and take your club there.
True. That's a pretty average Championship transfer fee and I think it's probably around his value. Not too bad. Nope, it was a free transfer. Bolton wanted rid of him and said he could go for nothing. Proof needed. Yep, he cost 200k. A small fee. We made a 3m profit and have seen none of it. Kasper was sold for 750k and that's all we've seen reinvested (Pugh + Lonergan fees). Max's 1.75m fee will come in installments over the next 12 months so we've probably not even seen a quarter of it yet. No. It's because the money's not been made available by Bates, something we've seen ever since we were relegated to Division Three. We make money all the time and the club either chuck it away on lawyers, buildings and radio stations or keep it from their manager so they can keep doing more of the same. We're now having to sell players to get a basic transfer kitty together. It's pathetic. And if he didn't, he'd get SACKED. He doesn't want to get sacked, therefore he misleads people in the press. Deal with it. Bullshit unless you prove it.

How can he say that If it was not true knowing full well Grayson reads it? And would he balls get sack if he did not say that. He does not have to say I have money to spend or sack. Stupid thing to say. Why don't you use your brain and think. That he has money but will not spend of fear of getting it wrong?
His contract for Bolton was up at the end of the season, they have a debt and would have wanted his wages off because he wasn't anywhere near the first team. We obviously didn't pay money for a 32 year old whose contract was up at the end of the season. Bolton couldn't have commanded a fee for him. Bates has lied in match day programmes before. What would Grayson say to him should he read it? So if he contradicted his boss in the press, you think his job would be completely safe? And why would he not spend money? The pressure on him is massive. He has expectations to be promoted from the fans. If the club had made the money available to him, then they'd expect him to spend it because they'd want promotion. He's not the only one who has a say in transfers either.
