I must be the only only Canaries fan to have missed it, but what has he done to have been marginalised so dramatically?

OK, last season wasn't his finest, but nor was it anyone else's.

He was here for Hughton, nothing else. Can't believe that a defender of his quality (even with his mistakes) would not be in the squad. I assume he has asked to move on, so the club are waiting for a suitor.

I didn't see every game, but when I did he just looked totally disinterested. To me he looked like he wasn't trying. Maybe Adams saw something similar and thought his attitude stinks so he must go.

Really poor from Bassong if true, he is a well paid professional player and should give his best to his employers at all times. Who would take a lazy player such as this...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ok Neallllllllll ring Harry he can carry Fers bags

Too many stupid mistakes in almost every game last season. Not a patch on the player he was for whatever the reason. Maybe he's still carrying on like that in training? As discussed before like Becchio seems lazy not putting in the work in training

I might be wrong but didn't he end up disinterested and in the reserves at Newcastle and Spurs?

He did say that he looked upon Hughton as a father figure so has probably thrown his toys out of the pram because he was sacked. If he doesn't want to be here move him on and make sure we accept a bid from somewhere that he doesn't want to go to ;)

Hughton can take the Palace job then Bassong's his for ten mil

And yet it was Bassong's mistakes that assisted CH being shown the door, among other things of course.

Bassong really needs to be careful with his career now, he's 28 so pretty much in his prime and he's just had his third relegation, he's also gaining a reputation for not wanting to put the effort in. Generally he is a very talented footballer however his attitude is such that the level at which he can expect to play keeps falling. It doesn't seem like there have been any suitor for Bassong as I'm pretty sure we'd rather sell cheaply than pay his salary (especially if he's not going to grace the field at all this season) and yet he's still on our books.
If he's smart he will see that the only realistic way to get the move he wants is to play football well, but it seems his attitude is preventing that so were all stuck in a position we don't want to be. My hope is that he comes in form the cold as it were after the transfer window closes. For my money of he played at the level he can he would be incredible at this level, i just have not expectation if it happening.

bassong won't play for neil adams. that's the brunt of the matter.

a shame as despite an indifferent season he's still a classy centre back who could stroll through this division and look a star. unfortunately he's made his bed...

I really can't see where Bassong thinks an offer is going to come in. At the very least he'll have to take a pay cut.

Thing is, though, it doesn't take much to show a bit of humility. These beds can be unmade and I can't help but feel that, along with being a bellend, if he's got even an ounce of common sense he will realise come the transfer window shutting that he really is in danger of destroying his career.

Any idea what the situation with his contract is? My understanding was that Spurs were paying a chunk of it to start with, but has that agreement now expired leaving us to pay his hefty wages in full?

If so then we need to ship him out asap, we can't afford to be hemorrhaging money like that with little or no return coming back.
